Published

Hi guys! Thought I'd make a forum for NYU's ABSN Program for fall 2020.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Alexis Paige. Currently in California. I received my BA in psych from a private university with a GPA below 3.0. Took pre-reqs in multiple community college while working. Ended up with the same GPA as undergrad ?

Here's my stats:

Anatomy: C (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Physio: A-

Microbio: C+ (planning to retake in spring 2020)

Chem for health sciences: C+

Nutrition: A

Stats: C

Lifespan dev: B

Volunteer experience at Stanford University. Do you think I have chance with NYU? I feel like my only hope in getting in are the letter of recs + personal essay.

Feel free to comment whatever is on your mind. What are your stats? Where are you from and what other schools will you be applying at? Help a sistah out!

Did anyone take nutrition online and if so, where?? I'm also not sure how to find out what nutrition NYU takes

Hello, yes. I am taking it online at John Hopkins. I was recently in touch with admissions and they said it was perfectly fine. You must apply to the school as a student taking nursing pre-reqs. It was also relatively cheap (if I recall around $1200). Just remember the primary rule for the pre reqs are : credits must be per semester, and the school must be accredited. But yes JHU online covers those.

I took nutrition online at Portage Learning - pretty affordable, self-paced, and NYU accepts it since it's accredited.

sorry if this is a dumb question but how do you know if the school is accredited?

You can always find it on their websites. For Portage, it's here: https://portagelearning.com/about/accreditation

Portage is a division of Geneva College in Pennsylvania and is regionally accredited, but it's the same region as New York.

I was told earlier in the application process that they do! And my profile's been complete for weeks and they haven't reached out about it saying it doesn't count so I think you're good. Obviously if you want to double-check, I would. And yep, that's the class!

OK great thanks so much for the info. it seems like one of the cheaper ones I've come across too so thats good

Hey, if you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats? And any experience?

I see it says you didn’t get your degree yet

sooo I’m pretty curious what your GPA is along with background experience

Were you given a conditional acceptance? I was just curious because I know that I received an email, myself, about whether or not I intended on taking a missing pre-req. I‘m more just curious how NYU handles those cases, and what those acceptances say in them. Thanks!

@marquisdelafayette I am just wondering how did the Portage class work for you?

Was it that once you paid you could complete it and take exams and do homework at your own pace?

I have an overall GPA of 3.69 and yup I’m getting my degree in August! I had a personal care assistant job for a child with autism and then I did a bunch of volunteering
