hey there!
i just submitted my application for nyu, fall 2009. it was a pretty lengthy process, which i guess is good because their application is very well rounded. now the waiting starts!
has anyone else applied for fall 2009?? i applied for several other schools but nyu is definitely my #1 choice. i'm so nervous!!!

I was also accepted (found out a couple of weeks ago). I kept calling the financial aid office but they said they haven't sent anything out yet. Since the deposit needs to be postmarked by May 1st, that doesn't give us much time to decide..
NYU is my dream school, but money is the main factor since it is super expensive, and I do plan to go on for my Master's. The fact that I'll be living with my parents in Queens will lower the cost somewhat, but still--I don't know how long I'll be in debt after graduation, with nursing jobs for new grads becoming more and more scarce these days..
Hey there everyone! So I was applying for nursing school last year and I remember how overwhelming everything was and how helpful this forum was, so I wandered on back to see if I could help anyone out now that I'm in school. I'm in the accelerated program at NYU. I'm not from New York, so I had to pack up everything and move across the country and it was ridiculous and exicting and so far, it's been worth it.
I skimmed this topic a little and it looks like you guys have financial aid questions? They'll send everyone a packet with their financial aid information sometime in the summer. They'll tell you how much you'll be able to get in federal loans and how much you'll need in private loans. (And this is assuming that you've all filled out the FAFSA, because you have to do that ASAP if you haven't) You just need to pick a lender and submit an application sometime before the fall semester. Available scholarships are posted on the college of nursing's website. There aren't an abundance of them, so you might want to try fastweb, or other outside scholarships.
Umm... what else?? Does anyone have any specific questions about anything? I'm not the best at remembering to check this website, but I'm hoping that after posting this, I'll remember to come back here... Or anyone can private message me too.
Congrats and good luck to everyone! :)

Congratulations everyone! I got my acceptance letter two weeks ago. I'm really excited, but I still haven't gotten a financial aid package. I talked to someone in the financial aid office and she said that they should be mailing out notices the first week of May. Unfortunately, that happens to be just after the deposit is due. Ha! So much for waiting until I see what they'll give me to decide...Hope to see you all there in the Fall...Anyone else out of state?
Hi Kelzy- I am interested in your experience with the 15 month accelerated program specifically. Please see this link:

Any info on the program, what to expect, intensity of it, etc would be great. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi everybody. Congratulations to all who have been accepted into the accelerated nursing program at NYU. I too have been accepted and am struggling with going to NYU or a school in Ohio (where I live) -- it's a lot cheaper. I think I've decided to go to NYU (I only have a few more days to decide, yikes) but I have accepted the amount of loans I will need to take out. It would be a great experience. I am also in need of finding a place to live. I would like to live near or on campus, and am definitely open to having roommates (especially if it saves money). Send me a private message if you're looking for places as well. Maybe we can help each other.
Hi: I applied 5 days before the final deadline and have not heard anything back. I applied for the aBSN program. Anyone in the same boat as me? I'm really stressing out over this acceptance/rejection letter situation!
I'm finishing up my Masters in Public Health [MPH] as well this month. I hope that helps me in the decision process.
Have you called the admissions office? My application was postmarked March 1- the recommended the due date- my acceptance came 3 weeks ago. I read a few times some people did not hear until after orientation, or if you sent supporting docs (transcripts, recommendation letters) in different packages they say they did not receive everything. It looks like they worked out a lot of the kinks for the incoming Fall 2009, but you never know.
Well I got my acceptance letter a montha ago. The deadline to accept/reject their offer of acceptance is May 1. So perhaps they are waiting to see how many people accept the offer from the first batch of letters so that they know how many seats are left to offer second batch of acceptance letters. If they have a waiting list like some schools maybe some people will be put on the waiting list after they see how many seats are left...... Just an assumption....

The deadline for the deposit is sometime in May, not sure which date though. So with that in mind you should be receiving something soon with the deadline approaching. Good luck Alicia09 and cupcake2!!!
