I just started my application for NYU's ABSN program for Fall 2010. I heard they might not even be accepting applications for fall yet, though, since the spring deadline was only about a week ago. Is anyone else applying here for fall? Also, does anyone know what their average GPA for accepted students is? Would it help to submit my GRE scores even though they don't require it? Sorry I know its a lot of questions but I'm already nervous for admissions
you know, you can never be sure if your application is even complete unless you call. If you haven't already, I'd call to make sure of that. However, if you're trying to call just to find out if your accepted, I'm thinking that would annoy them. I think that most of the people who found out they were accepted over the phone didn't expect to lol.
I would most definitely call. this is your life and it's very important and they understand that. everyone i spoke with was so patient and helpful. do not hesitate to call esp. if you think there are ANY questions at all concerning your app. you're only making their job easier by reaching out to them rather than them having to hunt you down if they do have questions. good luck!!!!!
Reading posts about them calling the Office only to find out that certain docs are missing or they need more clarification on things makes me want to call the office. Did anyone try to inquire via email instead? I'm trying to not bug so much via phone? I'm beginning to wonder if my application status is still pending and not CP or complete b/c I mentioned that a 3rd LOR (letter of rec) was on its way but decided not to do it. Any suggestions on my situation? Should I just assume that although I told a counselor I intended to re-submit a 3rd LOR and didnt s/he decided to input my file as "complete" and forward it for review. Should I just email??Thanks. Getting way too paranoid ...
I agree, definitely call. I have this weird feeling that NYU would have never let me know that I had any missing materials if I hadn't called. People will tell you different things over the phone which gets confusing. I was told that I wasn't allowed to check the status of my application over the phone by one student ambassador and another told me that I couldn't check if all my materials had been received during that time. Just explain that you want to check if your materials have been received and ask to speak to an admissions counselor. It's almost the magic word to get past the student ambassadors, lols. They're all really nice so you should have nothing to worry about :). Hopefully, the call will help give you some clarification!
Congratulations to everybody who got in. I'm happy for you all, but i also have to say it's bitter sweet for me, b/c for every "i got in" that i read i'm like, oh there goes 1 additional chance of me not getting in. I'm so tired of waiting. I know my app is complete because i called 2 weeks ago, and was told as so.
Congrats to all accepted!!For those of you that were accepted but still have pre-requisites to complete this summer, does your acceptance later state that it's pending successful completion, or is it an unconditional letter of acceptance?
quoted verbatim from my letter: "this offer of admission is contigent upon satisfactory completion of any educational course work now in progress as well as prerequisite courses for the 15-month accelerated program; if you are unable to complete the prerequisites prior to the start of classes, you will be placed in the non-accelerated program"

Don't letters get mailed in batches? I read in older forums that some people found out later than others of their acceptance, so you never know when it's going to arrive in your mailbox. I'm waiting for one of my transcripts to actually arrive so my app can be reviewed (ughs, lols) so I definitely understand the waiting process and being in this limbo period of not knowing. As people are hearing back, I'm sure that you'll hear from them too :)
Thanks tots..I haven't heard yet but I was getting panicked because my netid wasn't working :-P Court -- are you from Westchester? I grew up there, my best friend went to Iona!Elle
oh wow really! i'm actually from the Bronx tho.. did you go to hs in westchester? i know some of the schools up there
Hi! I was accepted to the accelerated program last week (April 14th, application was submitted mid-February). For the record, I graduated in '07 from a large southern public university with a degree in biochemistry - 3.96 GPA. I was also accepted to Yale and U. Miami, and rejected from Columbia. I'm definitely going to NYU! Mainly because I already live in Manhattan and don't want to relocate. My master plan is to get my M.S. at NYU as well and become an acute care nurse practitioner.
Does anyone know anything about pursuing the dual BS/MS at NYU? When do we apply and when can we start taking graduate classes?
Hey max.. congrats! i plan on getting my masters there as well... when i went to the info session they handed out some powerpoint slides & it says you apply after matriculation and after you complete your first clinical course... so i guess we apply at the end of the fall semester? we don't need to take the GRE and at the end of the BSN program you need a 3.0 cumulative. they also said that if you're accepted they will hold your spot in the program for a year after you graduate so that you can get some work experience before starting. oh and also i believe you can work it so the nursing elective you choose at the end of the BSN also works for MS credit... hope that helps :)
