NYU ABSN Spring 2020

Hello everyone!

My name is Kaitlyn and I was recently accepted into NYU Meyers as a Second Degree (non-accelerated) student. I'll be finishing up my prerequisite courses at NYU this Fall 2019 and will then begin the ABSN curriculum with, hopefully, some of you all in the Spring 2020 cohort!

Just wanted to start a thread for everyone to communicate on as you all work on getting your applications in ?

I'm not sure if any of you feel this way but I'm so over this entire application process! I've never applied to a school that has caused so much stress before. I already have gotten two acceptances from nursing programs for the Spring 2020 semester that want a decision and deposit by November 22nd.

I applied to the nursing program at NYU Meyers in early September for "priority consideration", which I believe is a lie! I spoke with someone and they told me it doesn't matter when you apply, it won't affect your decision at all, but all apps must be in by the last deadline. So that's number one!

Number two, I'm applying as a transfer student so I have more than 32 college credits. I didn't send in my SAT scores, so I called the admissions office to let them know that, because I noticed on the application portal that my SAT scores said "not received", so I called to let them know and they told me not to worry and when someone reviews my application they will fix it.

Months later, which is now I look at my application and it still says not received. So I called two days ago to let someone know again, and they said "thank goodness you called, your application wasn't going to be reviewed until the checklist was complete" WOW. So I asked her if that would affect my admission decision, she said no. But the first batches already went out!!! So of course it did!!!! So I asked them when I should receive an answer and she told me she doesn't know what batch I'm in, it could be UP TO JANUARY. For anyone who is relying on this school, don't! I'm being completely honest. In my opinion it's a complete gamble! They accept such a mixture of GPA's it's impossible to know your odds. I hope that all of you get in! I feel terrible that they make it this way.. I would really like to attend this program, but this whole process is unfair. I rushed to get this application in early just to find that it didn't even matter, and I'm pushed all the way to the back now for review because my checklist wasn't complete!!!

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHECKLIST IS COMPLETE, OR YOU WON'T BE REVIEWED!!!!!!!

There's no way I'm waiting possibly until January for this letter. I hope all of you also don't gamble with your acceptances. I'm very upset with this process! Good luck to you all.

hey which two schools did you get the acceptance letters if i may ask?

i think you are right about the priority application. it doesnt really matter cuz i read the past cohorts forum. they accept students with high gpa and the date of submission doesn't really matter

Is everyones checklist completely clear though? Thats so frustrating and annoying. Ive been calling them non stop too because the English language proficiency isnt checked off.

Yes yours looks good! No idea why I have that section on my checklist my main language is english i dont get it lol.

Hi! I got accepted to Adelphi, and Molloy. They want a deposit by the end of November. I’m going to have to give a deposit to one of them I guess ? it’s crazy that we may have to wait until January.

definitely, I would go to Molloy. don't wait up, i mean why. seriously, as long as the college is accredited. theres really no difference between nyu and other schools. well, there is difference in tution fee. hehe

and you should definitely call NYU, that doesn't look good

Thank you for the advice! I think I'm going to go with Molloy, they accepted 64 of my credits. They're sending out decisions this week on Friday, I really hope we're all in it! Good luck to you!!! :)

This is so insane to me. Did you call the nursing department or undergrad admissions?
