NYU ABSN Spring 2019

Published

I was recently admitted into the NYU Second Bachelor's in Nursing Program, but since I have not finished all the pre-requisites thus applied as a non-accelerated student, I won't start the curriculum until Spring 2019, so I've decided to start a thread for that cohort.

I also made an (early) Facebook group: Log into Facebook | Facebook

Hello everyone

i applied to the PROGRAM FOR SPRING 2019 as well! I have a low GPA However I did pretty good in my pre reqs. (Microbiology and development are in process). My lowest was chemestry. However I sent my letters of recommendation and my resume looks pretty good! I'm super nervous and I'm praying I get IN.... also they recommend we apply to Fafsa before nov 1. Now, I'm so overweight with how much money I might need for like books, uniforms, food, living expenses any body knows if they can help you out. I will need private and plus loans ... please keep me inform I will appreciated so much! Good luck everyone!!

Is this your first time applying for FAFSA? Typically, if you are awarded the full amount, there is enough (though, that is debatable) for housing/rent, books and a little extra for food. I recommend, upon acceptance, looking for roommates and housing that isn't overly expensive (many students live in Brooklyn or NJ); there may be scholarships you qualify for, so please look into them (these are on the NYU website).

Good luck and keep us updated :)

No they will download the LOR from the common app

I received the initial email but not the email with my username NETID information. Hopefully soon!! Good luck to all as we await to hear back!!

Hi all, I've made a very last minute decision to apply to NYU's second degree transfer (non-accelerated) program and would love your advice.

About me: BA in Neuroscience, MBA from NYU. I've been out of school for some time working on the business side of the industry in hospital administration. As far as pre-reqs good, I need most (all but nutrition and developmental psychology) and would be willing to take them at NYU as part of the program.

I'm trying to decide if I should rush to gather all of my materials for the upcoming October 15th (or is it November 1st?) deadline or wait until the next application cycle to apply. I have LoRs lined up (can upload through Common App), unofficial transcripts (can request official ones to be sent ASAP) and everything else ready to go.

Any advice?

Hey there and welcome! The deadline is November 1 for all applicants.

I really think this all depends on you and where you are right now in life; we don't have much background but here is what I think.

Rushing, if anything, may be stressful and costly, however, are you ready to matriculate in Spring? Do you want to matriculate in Spring? The thing about NYUs system is they give you the opportunity to fill in information re: your transcripts without having the transcript. You of course must submit them for acceptance/matriculation but they can review your application without them.

If you want to matriculate in Spring I say go for it; start ordering your scripts and asking for LORs today. Don't worry about time since school; many people who enter ABSN are in the same boat. You sound ready and competent so its a matter of want. If you feel this is too sudden, then wait for next Fall; just remember, matriculation is essentially one full year from now. Matriculation for Spring is three months from now.

Either way, I wish you the best and hope to hear of your future admission and success.

TL;DR: You can submit your application without NYU receiving transcripts and still be reviewed. What you want should take precedence. Are you ready to matriculate? Don't worry about your gap with school. Good luck,

Thanks so much. So helpful and I very much appreciate the support and guidance!

To those applying for spring. I am finalizing everything and hope to submit soon. I wanted to ask about your personal statements. How many words did you all write. I am having a hard time condensing mine and I feel I am cutting out what I really want to say.

Unfortunately mine was 2000 characters and I couldn't change it before the 2500 character limit was set. Remove any extra words or flowery phrase - mine was so condensed that I'm slightly worried the point may not come across, but truly, they evaluate the whole person and need your application to be concise. Good luck!

Hi, did anyone get the Albert login information. I have not received anything after the initial e-mail. Thanks.

Nope! Not yet.

I haven't received anything yet either. When I called them to ask about my status all they could tell me was that my application was completed and submitted and my transcripts were received it just takes a while to send the emails out. I don't understand how some get it but others don't.

Hi all! I submitted around September 15th and have yet to receive the login email.

Wanted to say "hi" to everyone!
