NYU ABSN FAll 2021

Published

Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

Hi thank you. I looked into those but most say you required to be undergraduate  of a 2 year or 4 year college. Would we qualify for those? What would it have to say for us to be qualified

I haven't been able to dig that far into it yet but I have read the same thing on a lot of them..  Some of them though just say enrolled in a bachelors program at an accredited school, etc. stuff like that

Hi everyone! I know the program is 15 months/4 semesters. I see that the Summer semester is an option as well, so that those starting in fall 2021 could be done by the end of fall 2022? (F21, SP22, SUM22, F22) Does anyone know if the Summer session is part of the curriculum or do people have to choose to do the 3rd semester in the Summer? Is it common for people to do the Summer semester? I could have it confused so I would love to have some input haha.

F21, SP22, SUM22, F22 is the standard curriculum. I don't know if you can opt out of the Summer semester. They put the or in the curriculum because of the people who start in the Spring. Their Summer semester would be flipped. Fall 2021 cohort would graduate around January of 2023.

Hello, does anyone know the number of students for each cohort?

I've read that it's between 100-150 each cohort, one Summer, one fall, so they graduate 200-300 students each year.

Hi Everyone!

I was accepted today! I'll be leaving information below for anyone that's curious. Good luck to you all.

I received the email at 2:23 pm and I submitted my application 3/25.

My undergrad GPA was 3.5 and I majored in Health Sciences and minored in Psych.

My prereqs:

A&P I: B

A&P II: A-

Micro: B

Statistics: A

Chem II: B

Nutrition: A-

Lifespan: A

I also submitted two LORs and I haven't had any experience working in healthcare.

Congrats! I was wondering about your chem II, how were you able to substitute chem II for chem I for your prereq ? My grade in chem II is way better than chem I, I would love to switch it out.

Sorry about that! I copied my prereqs from my post on the Rutgers ABSN thread and didn't doubt check them. I submitted my Chem I grades (also a B) to NYU, not Chem II. From what I've heard, Chem II grades are not allowed to substitute the Chemistry requirement.

Good luck tho!

I called NYU when I submitted my application and they told me it’s fine to use my Chem II grade. I’d call and double check

Hello, I just wanted to update those who may have read my question earlier. I tried calling (212-998-5300) but no one picked up, but I was able to get a response via email.

I double checked by emailing the office of student affairs and admissions ([email protected]).

They said "Unfortunately, Chem II cannot be accepted for the Chemistry prerequisite. For more information on this, please visit our website here. https://nursing.nyu.edu/academics/baccalaureate/prerequisite-courses?tgid=nyunursing-tabs-14576&tid=Chemistry-&-lab- "

Hi everyone. I was accepted to NYU ABSN and I was also accepted to Pace ABSN. I know NYU is more expensive and 4 semesters and Pace is 3 semesters but wondering if anyone knows any good information about the two programs that could help me make the decision.

Hey! So to preface this - I think they're both great schools, so you should definitely feel good about whichever you choose. That said, I am at NYU right now and my sister is in her last semester at UM, which is 3 semesters. With NYU you get the name on your resume but honestly I feel so rushed and stressed all the time and I have 4 semesters. My sister is absolutely drowning on the 3 semester track (but she is able to do it). I wish I had another semester as is, so I personally can't imagine doing 3. However, NYU is PRICEY and has its downsides like all schools. I'd ask other students at Pace on how they feel they've been treated by profs and faculty, too! I have great profs, but not so great admin (they've made life SO difficult with clinicals) and my sister has profs that don't advocate for them at all, which makes their workload even worse than it is. I personally wish I had taken more than just the name, price, and length into consideration but no going back now hahah
Also congrats on your acceptances!!
