NYU ABSN FAll 2021

Published

Hey, this is super duper early but I figured we could get some questions, fears, or concerns talked through until March 1, 2021, for priority or April 1, 2021, for the regular decision to NYU's ABSN 15 month program for non-nurses. Please don't be afraid, Please share stats if you are comfortable doing so. It really does help cohorts after us figure out strengths and weaknesses to be better applicants. Hey, after all, It's all about helping each other out at the end of the day, right! Don't be shy, talk about where you're from and things you may be worried about for the application process. As well as other schools you might be applying for!

Yea the max aid from federal loans is capped, and definitely too low of an amount for this program! I am looking into private loans, how about you?

Same, going to start researching today. Wondering how long we have to decide and send in deposit. My acceptance letter doesn’t say anything.
Does anyone know if the Summer semester costs less than Fall/Spring one? Trying to figure out total cost of program.

Lauren above says the letter stated one week. I am on my phone so can't look but I already accepted.

So if you got in last Monday, todays your deadline to accept. You click the acceptance link in you letter, click Respond to acceptance which takes you to Albert, then go through the acceptance steps to say Yes and then it directs you to pay the deposit.

The tuition is usually based on credits. Summer has the same number of credits as Spring and fall (look at curriculum in the ABSN website), so I assume its the same price.

@cam458 congrats!! mind sharing your stats/etc? just curious about who's getting accepted and their stats as well!

Sure @tomatotin I think I applied in the beginning of February.

B.S in Econ from an ivy, prerequisite GPA 3.9ish IDK still have a couple in progress, all done at a community college because it was cheaper. I really think strong extracurriculars can offset GPAs this year especially!!

Medical assistant 1 year, certified EMT, pediatrics volunteer, community service playing piano at a nursing home, shadowing a couple MDs in psych inpatient, wrote a chapter for Stahl’s pharmacology book, upper management position in my previous life (the spooky, scary business industry), 2 LORs.

Specializes in ICU/ER.

Hey hey,

Does anyone know if they have heard anything from the graduate admissions? I applied to the Psych NP Program, still waiting to hear! I got into Hunter & the deadline to decide is this Thursday! Still nothing from NYU.

Congrats bb nurses! Good luck

hi does any one know any scholarships we can apply to?

Hello everyone,

I just found this thread so joining the convo late. Congratulations to those accepted and good luck to those still waiting!

I got my acceptance on April 5th, letter indicated the need for response and deposit in one week window.  I accepted and put down the deposit on Monday, April 12.

I called the school and this is what I found out in case it is of use to anyone:

- in person classes planned to start in Sept 2021

- 91% of enrolled students in the Accelerated program complete the program in 15 months

- of the above 91%, 96% pass NCLEX on the first try

- deposit is non refundable and first payment of tuition is due sometime in July/Aug

- tuition is about $27k per semester for a total of 4 semesters = approx. $110k total

I did not read thru all the comments posted here. If I can be of assistance to anyone with questions please let me know.

I would also love to form a separate chat with those who have accepted and are starting in Sept. We will be spending A LOT of time together so let’s get a head start with getting acquainted : ) I just don’t know the best way to form a separate chat group and really don’t like using FB : (

Any suggestions anyone?  Looking forward to meeting the cohort!

You can always start a club in the Allnurses break room!

The only social media link allowed within the Terms of Service, is a facebook link.   Any other link or mention of a link will be removed.

Or, you may create a new "Club" for your cohort, by clicking on the Breakroom link in the upper left-hand corner of the yellow bar.  Then follow directions to Create A New Club, in the green bar at the top of the page.

Hi thank you for all this information.

it’s not 28,250 a semester? It’s 27,000 exactly? And we can start a group chat in facebook

Hey Jessica,

(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) has a list on their website with a bunch of scholarships that students can apply to.  Some of them are for masters/phd candidates, but it looks like ABSN students qualify for a good number of them.  When you click on each scholarship, it'll tell you which programs can apply.  The website also says that info for available scholarships in the fall will be sent in August.

I've also been looking into outside scholarships but it seems a bit more difficult for a second bachelors! Has anyone else been researching this? Loan options are a little scary but the end result will be totally worth the debt with the NCLEX pass rate and job placement numbers that NYU advertises!!

The person was probably giving an estimate. Tuition is 28,250 a semester. If you get accepted they'll give you the information and you'll have several months to figure out financial aid etc.

Hi thank you. I looked into those but most say you required to be undergraduate  of a 2 year or 4 year college. Would we qualify for those? What would it have to say for us to be qualified
