NYU ABSN Fall 2015

Published

Anyone planning to apply to NYU ABSN program for fall 2015. Since I'm in CA, there's no way I could attend the information session. What important things were mentioned at the information session?

I still haven't heard anything. I sent my application in February. I keep checking Albert as if they magically changed their minds and decided to post decisions on there lol

Specializes in Trauma ICU, MSICU, NSICU.

I read a LOT of past threads for NYU ABSN and I think I noticed a pattern that I thought might help everyone else if I shared for how they send out admission decisions. This is just a hunch though what do I know lol. It seemed like the definite yes and nos go out first. So if you have stellar stats and experience you got in immediately or just the opposite got denied. So if you're still waiting "no news is good news" seemed to be the common mantra in the past lol I think they weed through the applications as people commit to the program and are able to assess how many seats they can fill

I have pretty average stats so I'm not expecting anything for at least another month so anyone else in my boat might expect to be waiting awhile too (I have a 3.0 GPA and a 3.6 prereq GPA. Attended a major university and graduated with a science degree- hence the low GPA I swear orgo is the devil- and a minor in psych. Finished my prereqs at NYU which I'm hoping will give me an edge) It definitely doesn't matter when you sent your application in unfortunately. It definitely makes me anxious knowing they've started releasing decisions though!

Good luck to everyone! Fingers crossed

Also, I never called NYU because I didn't want to bother but is anyone's transcript still unchecked on Albert who knows it has been received? Kinda worried about that...

@ErikaRE i would suggest calling the admissions office and requesting confirmation for your transcripts and letters of recommendation. a few others still do not have their transcripts updated on Albert, and the only way to know for certain about the letters is to speak with someone.

when i called last week, they did say that the process of updating everything on Albert is slow, and if anything was missing from your application, NYU would give you a call.

thank you for the feedback regarding decisions. I hope we all get some good news sooner rather than later.

Accepted yesterday morning!!! CONGRATS to everyone else who was accepted! let me know if you want to hear my stats!

is anyone making a NYU FALL 2015 group?

CONGRATS! :) are you going to accept your admission?

Do they tell you if you got a scholarship with your acceptance letter?

congrats everyone! still waiting, i'm actually a bit nervous. i agree my impression is that NYU is NOT all about grades.their admissions is based on both general and nursing admissions. i know someone who got into NYU for med school and had a C in bio.

submitted my application on Christmas day.

my stats are definitely not stellar: 3.5 GPA from major top 25 university in music. All A's (repeated chem lecture), nutrition will be finished April (second one because they didn't accept one based on quarter system), volunteering/shadowing nurses/NPs for over 150 hrs.

and relative to other schools here's the difficulty of NYU, I was accepted to Hopkins, Duke, MGH, Emory, Miami, Cal State. Rejected by UCLA.

Hey everyone,

I got an acceptance email yesterday. I was very surprised it came to soon, considering an admissions counselor emailed me on the 2nd saying he was missing my transcripts! As some people stated before, I do not think they focus very heavily on GPA. Mine was 3.5, with a repeated bio course. I did work very hard on my essay, and included a letter of reccomendation from one of my professors. My resume showed that I have been working full time throughout my college career-which I think is a plus since it shows you can handle a fast paced program. Also, my work history did not include anything related to direct patient care. So I really don't think a very high GPA, and healthcare experience is too important to them, rather how determined you are to go there and be able to finish the program. Good luck everyone!

Congrats everyone!

I'm crossing my fingers for good news. I've had a pretty crummy week, it'd be nice to hear good news soon!

@biologybelle2 Congratulations !!! I'm still waiting . I would love to your stats . when did you complete your application?

A little update. I contacted admissions through email yesterday in regards to my transcripts not being reflected on albert. They said they would update it and should be reflected within 24-48 hours. Sure enough it's there this morning.

mine hasn't updated yet -___-
