U.S.A. New York
Published Jan 21, 2013
Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

Not sure. But I called around 4 o'clock to see if it was ok for me to turn in additional material like updated grades, the admissions assistant said it was fine to do so that my application was still under review.
Honestly I wish they would have just told me at 4pm that I wasn't accepted, instead of leading me to believe there was still a possibility.

For the people who got rejected.. what were your stats? Avas_mommy and samist? I don't think you should give up. i think you should reapply- this application cycle i HEARD there was only a 12% acceptance rate, maybe reapply in the spring?

That was hard earned because my school does not give A's out easily. My cumulative gpa is a 2.5 because I had one bad year and that was due to external family problems. Actually I helped take care of my grandmother while I was in college, moved 3 times, manage to take most of my major classes in my senior year. So if they don't want me, that's fine one mans trash is another mans treasure. My prereq GPA is currently is a 3.2 something but with my repeated AP2 it should bump it to a 3.45. Now I refuse to retake any more of those classes. I just got my CNA certificate this semester. I also work as a pharm tech.

I have not given up. Quite honestly the timing is not right for me. I had a minute secret hope to have a definitive no so that I could move on with our house buying plans guilt free(I must admit I did feel guilty placing a home for my daughter on hold while I pursued a degree). As for stats I have a 3.0 in biomedical engineering. I have worked in a myriad of bio-tech firms. I simply had not finished the vast majority of the pre-reqs upon applying. I have just completed A&P1, Nutrition and Micro with A's in all. I am registered for A&P2 and Psych for the summer. To summarize I am taking this rejection in stride as I do with all disappointments in life. It simply was not meant for me this go round.

Samist - I feel for you with the school that didn't give out A's. I was in a postbac in SF with a women who went to a school that was a pre-med feeder school. As such, they liked to disuade applicants to med school by only giving so many A's, so that their med school acceptance stats were great. This was a good school, and she was a great student. And she walked out with a 3.0 but at another school would have closer to a 4.0. Very frustrating all around.

At this point I don't see the point in waiting to reapply.
