Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?
Hi everyone! I got my acceptance this morning at 9:25am. I applied on 02/27/13 and had all my recommendations, transcripts, admissions fee in by 03/01/13.
Here are my stats for anyone who is interesting:
I graduated Binghamton University in 2010 with a B.A. in Biology and a 3.5 GPA
I did business consulting with a fortune 500 company for a year but left to go back to school to take some missing pre-reqs for nursing. I did 2 months of volunteer work and shadowing at my local hospital. I currently work for an early intervention program for developmentally delayed kids.
If it makes anyone feel better, my Pre-req gpa is only a 2.9! but I am still working on Microbio, A&P 2, and nutrition.
I also submitted 2 great letters of recommendations and worked really hard on my essay.
I'm really excited and plan on accepting my enrollment! :) I wish you all the best!! & Hope to see you guys all there.
Dont give up hope... I waited almost 3 months before I got receive my acceptance. I know what you are feeling because I was feeling there... but I hang on.. because I did not want to take anymore prerequisites on an entry exam else where. It is frustrating, but hang in there...
I am also still waiting to hear back. I am finishing up with my pre requisites now and I also don't want to wait around until next semester to apply to other schools. I had some snafu with my recommendation letter, so I don't even really know if my application made it into the priority round or not.
I'm glad that I looked into this forum and found many supportive people and that there are other applicants like me! For everyone else that is also waiting to hear back, lets hang on! Good things comes to those who wait :)!!
Hey everyone,
I'm still waiting to hear back from NYU. I'm pretty anxious at this point because I don't really expect to be admitted. I don't think I'm a very strong candidate. I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts are on reapplying in the future once I am rejected? Do you think it is worthwhile to work towards making yourself a stronger candidate for a year or so and then re-applying? Or do you think the admissions committee would find that annoying (you know, as in "We already told you no once, leave us alone, we're busy and have a million apps to go through!")?
Anyone's thoughts on this would be much appreciated! And a million congrats to all of you who go in already!
During the open house, admissions said they make you wait on full year vs. the next application cycle as you would need a full 12 months to do something new or different (improved grades, new experiences, etc).
Also, I spoke with a NYU ABSN student who will be graduating this Spring. She was not accepted the first time but was accepted the 2nd. I don't know how/or what she improved or changed during those twelve months. She did say she thinks they LIKE to see 2nd time applicants as it shows your commitment to the school. So to answer your question, not annoying.
I wonder why they would make you wait a full year. It's certainly possible to re-take a class and have time to apply for the Spring. I could take summer classes and it would be totally different but on time. I wonder if your friend misunderstood or something. That just seems really bizarre.

I called the office today, the girl said they decide 6-8 weeks after the deadline, but I'm not too sure if that's true........
