NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

Published

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

Hey I got accepted, and some people wanted to know timeline, stats, whatever. Ok so I sent in my app a couple of days before the deadline (maybe 2). My application wasn't fully put together until this past friday, and was accepted on Monday. My stats, well I have around a 3.7/8 gpa undergrad and around a 3.5 pre-req. Hard to tell because I went to many schools and im not done with my pre-reqs yet. I have been active with research, both medical and non medical, and in my spare time I volunteer at an animal shelter. I'm not sure why I stood out, but I tried in my PS to account for my weaknesses, and be honest about why I wanted to be a nurse.

Yes, I also applied to Seton Hall

Not here. Anyone who applied to finish your prerequs in the Fall and start the Accelerated Program in Spring 2014 hear back either way?

nothing here either...

Not a thing...

I got my acceptance at 8:13 am so I'm sure you guys will be hearing soon.

Hey Congrats!

Do you mind sharing your stats as in your GPA, work experience and degree you graduated?

I'm a NYU hopeful and I will be applying this fall and I would to get some feedback or insight to the applicants the school choose!

I graduated from SUNY farmingdale, my major was bioscience and minor was sociology. My GPA was a 3.42 and pre-reqs maybe around 3.7 I'm not really sure I've never calculated it before. I volunteered many hours in a hospital and shadowed various MDs, NPs, and PAs... Somewhere around 1000 or so hours but that's not a requirement and there isn't a real spot to put your volunteering hours. I also work at a women's health clinic full time for about a year. My advice would be to write a strong personal statement and have good letters of rec because according to other students posts on here you can look stellar on paper but they look at your application as a whole not just GPA or work experience. Stay hopeful though I think the acceptance rate is somewhere around 30% so for me to get in with a 3.42 is kind of hard to believe. I've applied to PA school 3 years in a row and didn't get one interview.

Hello! Congrats to everyone who got accepted to NYU College of Nursing! I just found out I was accepted last week and have to decide by May 1st...I live in California so this will be a huge step for me to move out to the East coast. Someone should start a facebook group so we can meet each other and such.. What is everyone doing about living? On campus housing or are you guys going to try and find a place to live on your own?

Thanks!

Alex

Hey there...Congrats. I'm accepted and moving to NYU from SF. Gonna be a huge change, but we can all handle it. Experience of a lifetime. I am definitely going to try to get into on-campus housing for at least the first academic year. Yes, I am 40, and still considering on-campus housing. I just think it'll be easier than trying to figure out boroughs, neighborhoods, apartments, etc from all the way over here in SF. Hopefully I can get into a private somehow.

Congratulations for those who were accepted and I will keep my fingers crossed for those who are still waiting. I received my acceptance last week and couldn't be more excited to begin. I would like to live on or near campus, I currently live on Long Island and have concerns with commuting taking away from study time. If anyone is applying for campus housing or interested in an apartment in the city please let me know. Looking forward to meeting you all!!

I didnt apply for on campus housing because I wanted to hopefully room with another nursing student! I havent accepted yet because I am still waiting on SFSU and we are supposed to now hear by next week *hopefully* because I need to accept/decline NYU by May 1st. I would love to go to NYU but I just really need to consider cost and expenses over there, whereas if I stayed in San Jose (where I'm from) I could save a lot of money.

Has anyone seen a facebook group for this years class yet??
