NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

Published

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

BrooklynJulie-- I would be soo ****** especially since you physically handed everything into the office. I called around March and they said everything was in for me and I sent everything in around the end of April. I didn't get notification yet either so we shall see.

Hopefully that doesnt hurt your chances!

Hi HopeIGetN2_NYU_ABSN

thanks for your reply, I truly appreciate that.

I have seen your lengthy post, and I feel the same way you do. I am 24, My overall GPA for BA in Biological Sciences is 3.57, and pre-reqs is about the same or idk a bit lower? some of them are similar as the letter grades you have got. Not good at Chemistry at all, some As, some Bs for Bio classes. Not stellar..I am not applying for Spring 2014, but since I haven't finished all my pre-req, I will have to take one semester of Developmental Psychology before enrolling into the program, therefore, If I got in, I would be put into the Spring 2014 class for sure.

I see that you have a lot of experiences, I have about 16 months of clinical volunteering experiences at different departments (ER/Outpatient Infusion Center/Recovery room/Nursing Unit) in my local hospital, but I do not have any certificates or any other working experiences...That is why I am worried..I am new to the society with only 1 1/5 years of volunteering experiences and that's pretty much it.

I have included my passionate about nursing career and my aspiration of becoming a nurse in the personal statement, and since my mother was a nurse, I have always looked up into her, so I am proud to be following in her footsteps and so on..I mean I am telling the truth from my heart, but I am not sure how people perceive it as a good statement? I am not good at using beautiful words...and to be honest, not a good writer, idk if this would make me less competitive?... And for the resume, just stuffed everything I have done as a volunteer in the hospital, and also volunteered in the campaign for the 2013 Presidential Election in my college, OBAMA and ROMNEY came to give a speech... I am trilingual, did some teaching assistant works at school too. Nothing else too special. I want to be positive, and hope NYU can take all these into account...That will help me A LOT!

I didn't get into the nursing school at Binghamton University (with exact the same crendentials), so I am worried that NYU would turn me down too.. I am trying not to let myself down like this, but just to be prepared. I don't really know what they are looking for anymore...I really don't have anything else to "show off" to them...:(

Let's just hope for the best!! And thank you, good luck to you too!! :)

Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate it. In regards to selection process, I'll be honest and say that it is very ambiguous of who they want into their program. This is because I have numerous friends that went to different kinds of professional schools (nursing, medical school, pharmacy school, optometry school, etc) and all of their gpa, credentials, etc., are very different. I have seen some of my friends with low gpa get into a school of their choice and some with high gpa that didn't. For the friends that got accepted (especially the ones with low/average gpa), stood out to me very peculiarly because they were able to show their unique diverse individual characteristics. My friends that didn't get accepted and have a phenomenal gpa were not able to show what my friends showed that did get in. All they have was just their gpa. People besides my friends that got in seem to show some kind of passion/leadership. Then again I also have seen someone with a strong gpa and little experience get in as well. Overall, I seriously think it's more about how you express yourself in your application and by the luck of the draw.

Hey how are you thank you I am really excited my credentials are 3.54 overall and 4.0 or the prerequisite I also have 300 hours of volunteering in a medical office good look to you all hope all of you get in

You got admitted correct?

I really hope I can get in.But I just don't have very high pre-reqs GPA..

It really is... I can't believe they don't send them all out at once. I'm having anxiety over this and can't do anything but check my email it's obsessive lol. Seems like torture to me.

Mairayhans... You applied to pace too right? Which will you chose if accepted to both and why. I really would like to go straight thru and get my masters but I can't at nyu.

Technically the NYUCN site does say something about rolling admission, which from my understanding meant that it doesn't all happen at one big time, but over period of time based on when applications are submitted/complete and reviewed by the committee........ i know that doesn't help the anxiety.

Thank you very much

HopeIGetN2_NYU_ABSN, let's see what we could have for tomorrow!!

i think i had a similar issue to begin with. i think i had to make sure pop-up blocker was turned off first. then i tried again, did the drop down for cr crd and then clicked on make payment (to the right), this took me to another page to enter the credit card information on the nyu bursar office page. I think?

Hello! I want to give you a confidence boost or at least try too. I did not think I would get in but somehow I did. I have exactly a 3.09 undergrad gpa. I think my pre-req GPA is 3.5ish (not really sure). So my gpa is not high at all. I didn't really volunteer much, less than 100 hours at a physical therapy department in a hospital. I work in a lab doing research currently. I took an EMT class but never worked as one. I was a collegiate athlete and have a bunch of leadership experience. Other than that my application does not seem much different or even better than yours. I'm not a great writer at all. I definitely tried to write the best 500 word essay that I could. I researched the school's history, mission statement, and capabilities and tried to tie that all in my essay (which was hard with only 500 words!). Anyway, I turned my app in in January. I wouldn't lose hope at all. Gotta keep your head up!

Thank you celticcub1_nurse2b got it all taken care of

Just got rejected. Good luck everyone else, I'm pulling for you.
