Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?
I am confused too... I applied in November... and still waiting for a response..
This really makes me to think that I am less competitive compared to those who have already heard the decision...
I hate to say this, and I don't want to compare like this. It hurts the feelings, but I think it is maybe because they just picked out the stellar ones first since those are easy to give admissions, and leave the others to be reviewed later on no matter when you submitted your materials..?...now it really comes to the question if they take priority deadline serious or not?...
Like me, I do not have super outstanding GPA nor finished all the pre-reqs...everything for me is just OK, like I am super ordinary..So...I guess it takes time for them to give a decision like me?
idk...
At one of the open houses, I asked if there was any difference in decision making time between those who applied priority and those who didn't, because I wasn't sure if I should rush to meet the priority deadline or not. The guys said there was NO difference and that applying early wouldn't affect my chances, so I don't think we should get too down for not hearing something. I do wish they did it all at once, or at least on one day, but I didn't get the impression that those who applied first would hear first.

I understand your apprehensiveness. Like myself and everyone else, we are all in the same boat. From what I understand from people who got in based on reading numerous of other posts, it is true that they take stellar applicants. Not just GPA but YOU AS AN OVERALL PERSON. I'm sure you know this as well. Based on what I'm reading, maybe it's taking a while because of the numerous applicants alongside with all the numerous calls they are getting regarding their application status. So I'm figuring out that because of them being contacted numerously by everyone, I think that it's slowing them down in reviewing/deciding who to accept/reject. Idk. Maybe that is the reasoning why eveyone is waiting so long. Going back to you describing your stats (based on the superficial information of just saying "not an outstanding GPA/nor finished all the pre-reqs/everything else is jut OK", I feel the same way and I tried to be descriptive and justify my reasonings (alongside with other things that I volunteered and have experience with) on the very lengthy thread I posted on page 32. I'm scared too because idk how I compare to other applicants so I tried to be very descriptive about my stats/credentials hoping that someone with a lot of knowledge can help me out.
The main thing is that to never give up hope for something you have passion for. I am very sure you can get in if you explained and justified everything about you in your applications/supplementary applications which is why they are taking the time in considering you as well with everyone else.
No matter what, if you want it really bad, YOU WILL GET IT if you show it and if it really is meant for you. But good luck to you and I really wish you the best of luck. I plan to apply for the Spring 2014 ABSN class this fall.
Hi everyone! So I'm one of the people who was accepted yesterday, but I wanted to let those who are still waiting know about what an admissions counselor told me. I called the main admissions office last week to see what was up. I was transferred to a nursing counselor who told me that the priority deadline means next to nothing. Technically they look at the priority applications first, but if they can't make an immediate decision about whether to accept/reject the applicant, they wait to look at the regular applications to see how the person fits in with the rest of the pool. I know it said rolling admissions on the website, but that's not how the admissions counselor made it sound. Obviously I don't know how many priority/regular applications they've gotten through already, but I hope this is somewhat helpful. Good luck!

Congrats! If you don't mind, may I ask you your stats/credentials and what you did to make yourself stand out to get accepted? Like everyone else who is curious and asking, just would like to know how well I compare to you or anyone that did get accepted.
Congrats again and good luck!
I applied on March 29th and just called to confirm that my letters of recommendation had been matched to my application. I was told my the admissions person that they had the letters but not my transcripts. I hand delivered a package to the NYU Welcome Center (as instructed) on the 29th that had my name and application number on every single piece in the envelope (transcripts, copy of application, and marriage license to prove name change). After pressing her a bit she said that they were still in the "sorting and matching" process but I got the sense this wasn't the case. Obviously, I am sort of upset about this because it feels like my documents have been lost.
Has anyone who applied near the April 1st deadline received confirmation that all of your paperwork made it safely to your application file? I have the transcript boxes checked on Albert as "received" which is why didn't even worry about the transcripts.
EEKS!

This is really weird because I just called just now, and the guy said within these two weeks and even today.
