Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?
The tuition does not include housing or any of the additional fees (books, etc). What school in Chicago? I have my interview for the UIC masters program on Friday.
Oh wow congrats! I hear that school is amazing. I actually got accepted to Loyola University Chicago's ABSN program very similar to NYU's.
Ok so I am new to this site. Just like everyone else, I read numerous threads about statistics, acceptance rate, what does it take to get in, etc. This post that I am making is for anyone who knows if I have a chance or knows anyone that got in with similar background as me. So here goes:
1. 23 years old
2. Went to a community college in Walnut, CA from July 2007 - June 2010 and ended up with a 2.78 GPA because of certain life events that prevented me from succeeding (I started out with a 3.7 and dropped down to 2.78 before I transferred out)
3. Transferred to University of California, Riverside from September 2010 - December 2012 and my degree is B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Medical Biology but GPA JUST FROM THERE is 2.5 (quarter system compared to my semester system in community college)
4. Combined GPA with community college and UCR is roughly 2.6ish
5. I'm back at the same community college and will finish this June
6. Pre-Req grades: A in anatomy (taken in Spring of 2008), B in statistics, C in general chemistry 1, and currently taking physiology, microbiology, nutrition, and developmental psychology (I know I can get an A in physiology, developmental psychology, and nutrition for sure and a B in microbiology).
7. Experiences- about 1 1/2 years volunteering in the emergency room at "Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center" (about 450 hours), volunteered in a research lab at UCR from February 2011 - September 2011, and helped one of friends setting up a fundraising event called "kickin' it with Kylie" for a University of Texas soccer player that was hit by a drunk driver (she survived and went to the same high school with me. Her name is Kylie Doniak and you can look it up to verify it)
8. I have a california state license to practice as an EMT and a national registered EMT (got both of those January of this year) BUT I never worked as one because it is difficult to find a job since the economy is very bad
9. I would also like to know if I have to provide proof for every experience I did when submitting my application
10. I have a letter of recommendation from LAC-USC Medical Center but that was when I left in February 2009
11. I can get stellar letter of recommendations from 2 of my professors and EMT instructors right now if I wanted to
12. Personal statement is top of the line
13. If I get the grades in the remaining 4 pre-req as stated in #6, with my experience/volunteer as stated, letters of recommendations, and personal statement and apply this october for the Spring 2014 NYU ABSN program, can I still get in?
14. Yes my overall GPA is poor but that's because of certain life events that I cannot prevent that pulled me away from studying
15. My pre-req GPA is strong and I am trying to not brag about it alongside with how confident I am with #6 stated above
16. I would appreciate it if someone can help me out by reading through everything I listed here from #1-16 and give me inputs or EVEN KNOW on wether or not I can still get in or seen anyone very similar like me get in. Thank you all very much and I really appreciate whoever answer this.
P.S. Congratulations to everyone that got accepted to NYU fall 2013 ABSN program!
I got my acceptance a few minutes before 6 AM (California time). Congrats everyone! I was also a priority applicant if that helps.
Congrats! I'm from California as well. I posted a lengthy thread hoping that someone might help me answer it. If you don't mind me asking, what are credentials like? I am applying this October for the Spring 2014 class as stated in my thread
