NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

Congrats to everyone that got in!! I received my offer this morning too :) Has anyone started a facebook group yet??

For those of you waiting to hear, my stats were:

UCSB GPA: 3.3

Prereqs GPA: 4.0

No direct patient experience, but I volunteer in a local ER.

Non-profit work for an international health organization.

Good luck!! So excited to meet all of those who are going!!

I'm still waiting :/

I am waiting too.... so anxious about it! I submitted all my materials in November 2012...and still not hearing back?? Anyone heard rejections?

Maybe because I didn't finish all my pre-req?..My Overall GPA (3.57 in Biological Sciences) is kinda similar as the pre-req, maybe pre-req is a little bit lower...not so impressive at all... I am so worried!!! I need to finish Developmental Psychology at NYU if I get admitted, so instead of enrolling into Fall 2013, I would be placed into the class of Spring 2014.

I have volunteer experiences for about 16 months @ different departments in a local hospital: Nursing Unit/ER/Outpatient Infusion Center/and Recovery room (PACU).

I am trilingual as well, speak English, Chinese and Japanese.

Not sure if these would win me any chance??...panic mode!!

I am so worried about my GPA and the pre-reqs...!! Does NYU really care about these?

Yea idk I submitted in November too with 4.0 prerequisite gpa and a 3.3 undergraduate gpa. I have clinical experience working in a hospital so I feel your frustrations. Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow. Anyone applying to pace? If so how do you decide between nyu and pace. What are your thoughts ...

At my last semester as University of Maryland now, I have a 3.6 GPA, still finishing human development, anatomy 1 & chem now, then taking anatomy 2 & micro this summer! -- just started interning in a hospital in january

I feel like everybody got real high GPA on the pre-reqs...but me.. :( sad about it...

I have called the admissions office this morning, and the lady said that admission will be sent out randomly from Monday to Friday with no specific time..And asking me to wait for another 2 weeks... I really hate to hear that...it sounds more like an excuse to me..

Hopefully we can hear something tomorrow morning!! finger crossed!!

I actually don't even really have a prereq GPA because I haven't finished my classes yet and still got in for fall 2013 so i think that they really look at you as a whole so I am sure you have excelled in other areas & I would not worry!

Hi mrshamilton,

Thanks so much for letting me know, it makes me feel better and I believe there are still hopes for me!

I want to work internationally and I really hope that NYU is my first stop of my future career...!!

I just got accepted to NYU as well! I felt like they were never going to make a decision! Does anyone else find that their tuition is outrageously high? Couple more questions: anyone know if that includes housing? Also, do most nursing students live on or off campus? I dont know if you all have these answers but I thought I might ask. I am soooo torn because of the price. Another school I was accepted to in Chicago is literally half :( Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

congratulations!!!

what time did you get the email?

I hope I get in

my email was 4/9/13 at 552am (CA time....so 852am NY time)

wow, congratulations again

I'm really nervous now. I was at work and I couldn't focus at all.

but I'm really happy for those who have finally heard back from them (especially with good news)

If you don't mind me asking, how were your "credentials"

nothing exceptional here.... very good pre-req gpa, average/good undergrad gpa, over 20 years work experience (finance/acct'g), about 1.5 years volunteer in ER, really positive letters of rec, and a personal personal statement. i'm not a good judge of my own credentials, especially with the fact that i didn't get accepted to university of colorado ABSN program......grateful for that now.

just breathe. believe. be.
