NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

Hello! I want to give you a confidence boost or at least try too. I did not think I would get in but somehow I did. I have exactly a 3.09 undergrad gpa. I think my pre-req GPA is 3.5ish (not really sure). So my gpa is not high at all. I didn't really volunteer much, less than 100 hours at a physical therapy department in a hospital. I work in a lab doing research currently. I took an EMT class but never worked as one. I was a collegiate athlete and have a bunch of leadership experience. Other than that my application does not seem much different or even better than yours. I'm not a great writer at all. I definitely tried to write the best 500 word essay that I could. I researched the school's history, mission statement, and capabilities and tried to tie that all in my essay (which was hard with only 500 words!). Anyway, I turned my app in in January. I wouldn't lose hope at all. Gotta keep your head up!

Thank you very much for the cheer up! I will keep my head up! I was reading some of the threads, it looks like NYU rejects high pre-req GPA as well?..some people got 3.8 pre-reqs GPA and got rejected.. To me I feel like they are pretty good, but I am not sure about their experiences. I am just worried because I submitted my materials in early November 2012, and people applied after me have already got a response...I don't have any leadership experiences. I always just do what I feel like to do, don't like to be on the top or NO.1. When writing the PS, I really didn't know what to write about myself..I also glorified NYU and how strong my motivations are to becoming a nurse etc..but are they going to believe me?..lol The admissions told me my application is still under review, so nervous, hope they don't turn me down.. I feel like I am always the last one...sigh..

I'm currently taking micro, A&P I (I'll take II over the summer), gen chem and nutrition. They really do look at the application as a whole!

I got accepted, but there was no information on my financial aid package.

Does anyone know when that information will be made available to us??

No news on aid. It said they would send it out in a few days.

Someone asked about my stats the other day. I have my Bachelors in progress, which will be done in May. Other than that, all my pre-reqs are done. Lots of volunteer. 3.7 overall and 3.9 prereqs. Hope that helps? :)

celticcub1_nurse2b - did you receive any confirmation of your acceptance of nyu's offer after you paid the deposit, other than the receipt from the bursar's office?

nothing yet, other that the receipt from the bursar's office. my assumption is that they wait for payment to process through, then send another batch of email communication about offers accepted and other information.

Out of curiosity- does anyone that has already been admitted have any incomplete pre-reqs that you're still working on finishing? I'm curious because on my application, I indicated I would be finishing two classes in the spring semester and two over the summer. I wonder how much of an impact that has on my application review...

i have two in progress as we speak and one this summer.

Congrats! I was accepted and started this spring. Just an FYI financial aid info wasn't posted for me until about 3 weeks after I got in (roughly a week before the deposit was due).
