Hello! Bringing up an old thread. Does anyone have any pointers for the NYP Operating Room pharmacology exam? The study guide they gave is very broad and... vague. Im so overwhelmed with where to begin studying, im not even sure what resources to use.

Hey all! Ok, so it's now 2018! Anyone take the Pharm exam recently? Any changes? Words of advise? Is it really similar to the RN.com study guide? Truly appreciate it...

Out of state or resident does not matter, they have their reasons for not hiring you.If they do not have such an opening then it is not for you. They have job interview days make sure you attend.I know in the OR they are willing to take a new grad and train you it is a fairly new program.

Definitely follow the study guide provided by NYP from RN.com . The study guide is very helpful. I took the Pharmacology test today and got 90%. The test was straight forward don't over study. I'm very excited to start NYP in June.

Go to linkedin and ask the recruiter whats going on,weird.

I just wanted to update this thread for anyone looking for the latest information concerning the test. I just took it and got a 98. In my opinion, it was very easy. You just need to follow the study guide provided. There was absolutely no surprises on the test and everything came from the study guide. Good luck!

The study guide is from Rn.com. It seems vague but just follow it closely. Thats is all I used.

Hey everyone, I just received an offer for CHONY, I am due to take the exam soon, but I received very vague instructions about the pharm study guide. They said it would be basic pharm from RN.com. However, I was hired for a peds floor, but they did not say if it would be a peds pharm exam. If anyone has any info, let me know and I will PM you. Thank you!

I recently took the pharmacy test and scored 98. It's more medication heavy than dosage calc. Just use the bmae rn study guide from rn.com! It is enough. It doesn't ask detailed specific side effects. Honestly very basic knowledge of medications and what you would monitor/assess for.

Like assessing for hypotension in someone who took a BP med.

Hi, I am going to be taking the OR pharm exam this week. Would you have to still have that study guide? They don’t offer any guides anymore and I’m pretty anxious about it. Any help would be appreciated.

How was the OR specific one? I take it next week (June 9th). I wish there was practice exams or something. At least in nursing school, you knew what answers they wanted or knew what sources they wanted it from.

Any advice is appreciated!!
