NYP Hiring Process

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone this is my first post. I was lucky enough to score an interview with NYP where I met with a hiring manager as well as a director of a unit. I am wondering for those who have applied for RN positions how long did it take to hear back with a job offer? Or possibly a job denial. I would love to hear from those who have ben hired here as I am really anxious. Thank you.

Hi!

Here's my timeline for my most recent interview (third interview through NYP). I had my interview with the nurse recruiter at the end of April as a new grad (Dec 2020 graduate) with my BSN.

  • Nurse Manager Zoom Interview: 06/18
  • References: 06/18
  • Received and accepted offer verbally and online: 06/20
  • Start date: 08/09

Still waiting to hear from HR concerning onboarding; very excited!! The nurse recruiter told me to have my vaccinations (flu & covid) ready and that the HR information will mostly be in-person (physical, ID picture, etc).

Hey kn0607,

Congratulations!

We are on the same boat, and we are starting on the same day. I have not heard from an HR Advisor yet regarding background checks and onboarding process.

Hope we get an email from them soon.

A few of you started last week. How’re things going so far?

Hey CN101, So far my first week was great. We had a week of class room orientation. I'm starting with a preceptor on my unit tomorrow. I'm excited and scared at the same time since it's my first RN job and I'm hoping for the best :).

Are you starting a new job in NYP too?

Hey guys! I wanted to get others' opinions on this-

I received an email from NYP about a "Getting to Know You" Assessment this past Thursday evening and completed it w/in an hour of receiving it. I haven't heard from the recruiter/TA yet. I did check my application status and it changed to "Assessment/Reference." Does this mean an interview is guaranteed?

After finishing my assessment and every time I try to access it afterward, this message pops up: "Thank you for completing the assessment. NewYork-Presbyterian will be in contact regarding next steps in the hiring process."

I don't want to get my hopes up to be disappointed in the end haha.

You will be contacted by a talent recruiter within a week. If you pass that interview you will then be interviewed with the manager.

Okay, thank you so much!

Hey y’all.. thought I’d give y’all an update, if anyone cares. So NYP didn’t work for me. I went on 4 different interviews. My last interview was for PICU at Cornell which was my BEST interview yet but nope! They said “SIKE” LOL. I accepted a position at NYU’s Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital on their Congenital Cardiovascular Care Unit (CCVCU), the only children’s congenital cardiovascular service in NYC. I’m excited for the learning experience. In any regards, good luck to everyone waiting to interview and to those who’ve already interviewed, hope you hear back with good news!

Just deleted my last message because I realized it made no sense!!

does anyone know if nyp cornell pays for grad school? I know NYU has a great tuition reimbursement program...so I'm hesitant to accept an offer from NYP

I'm not sure, but during my interview with NYP last week they told me their tuition reimbursement was 18k a year. What is NYU's like?

They pay for 12k a year prepayment or reimbursement.

im guessing that's roughly like 2 classes a year?
