I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

This is by far the largest number of any state. (As a side note, Georgia demanded that all 22 nurses return their licenses. Not one of them did.)
There is no investigation for those 903. It was already concluded that their education doesn't meet NY standards since they attended one of the schools on the fed fraud list. They were given the option to prove credentials or surrender the license without disciplinary action. Those that decide not to surrender their license will suffer the consequences eventually. It is just a matter of time. For those of us still waiting, NYBON has not made any official announcement pertaining to the Florida approved schools that didn't commit any fraud. NYBON is still throughly investigating. Like I said before, I hope they are bit more lenient with us and we don't suffer the same fate as those who attended the schools accused of fraud. You also need to remember that there are those that actual went to class and clinical but because their schools were engaged in fraudulent activity, their education is deemed insufficient. We are also suffering the consequences of these schools and are now stuck in limbo wondering if our educations will meet NYBON standards. I also wonder what they will do with the nurses who are licensed and working that graduated from Florida approved schools not on fraud list. Will they also have to surrender licenses also? It just waiting game at this point. Let's just continue to pray.
I don't think the State will take nursing licensed who already licensed for years and who attended nursing aproved nursing school in florida before 04/18/2023 . Out of state nursing programs New laws
Did anybody write to ny BON after they receive the email about score cancellations. Did anybody take initiative or just didn't bother and went back to school?
Hi, I want to know if you can retake the nursing BON in Florida.

Yes you can retake the NCLEX in FL. You just have to contact FL BON. They have to have your school credentials already. A lot of people tested in FL first and didn't pass so they went to NY to take it where there is no limit. So because of that, FL would already have educational credentials needed. You if you had your credentials sent to NY BON directly then you would have to send your credentials to FL BON before they let you test again.
However, just as a reminder. While you may be able to retake the NCLEX in Florida - NY may still not endorse you for a license in NYS. They evaluate all out-of-state programs for equivalency (I am going through this process now from a California community college program with a 97% pass rate). So - while you would be able to work in FL - NY would still be problematic. And since the story has now spread across the U.S., most other BONs will have their questions too....

I wanted to send you a private message but I don't know how. Do you know how to send private messages on this forum?

I sent you a private message you can respond to that.
Reading some of the comments, I see that others have said the tuition needs to be reimbursed while others said the school may file bankruptcy. Agree. However, reimbursement of tuition is a drop in the bucket in my opinion. I went to school long before schools were charging exorbitant tuitions but still, when I look back on the extremely long 4 years I put in, the blood, sweat, and tears, no social life, not being able to afford much of anything but chicken noodle soup (thank goodness for neighbors who fed me!)...and not to mention I could only work a few hours a week (minimum wage) during those days...well, tuition reimbursement doesn't mean much. I suspect it's the same for many.
For those that legitimately went to school, studied, etc., and didn't "purchase" a degree, I think they need much more than that type of reimbursement. I rarely recommend lawsuits, but in this case, I might. Pain and suffering. Also, checking pass rates, accreditation, etc., is always an excellent point and should be done but I suspect most young people don't know that. I would never blink at a strip-mall school but who knows what I would have done years back in my eagerness to get accepted into a program? Maybe.
Is there any update on what's happen with the schools for FL BON? Is FL BON going to take away the licenses? I am almost done with my BSN degree. But I'm seeing my ADN is always going to give me problems. At this point I'll just use my bachelors and work and other job. Going through nursing school again is something I don't want to live through ?

Some people are getting contacted by the Fl BON to hand in their license and others aren't. It doesn't matter if you got a BSN your original school that allowed you to sit for your NCLEX is the issue. Currently NY is allowing people to go back to school that they approve of and start over if you want to be licensed in NY BON. Essentially there's no update I don't even know if FL BON is allowing people to go back to school and start over too. I don't know the outcome of people who got their licenses annulled/revoked with "fraud" discipline what's the course of action do they get to start over or they can't ever be licensed again as a nurse?
