  1. Your best bet is to reach out to your local assemblyman as they will be able to get more information on your behalf so that you know exactly where you stand. Depending on your circumstances, you will either get through or you will have to get a new nursing education from an accredited program.
  2. Even if it wasn't involved in the scandal, it still has to be accredited. NY will not accept approved schools going forward.
  3. Call them tomorrow morning. That's the only way you will get a definitive answer.
  4. All schools from Florida will be under scrutiny. One of Herzings campuses are approved. Did you go to that one? Also if you finished when the program was accredited, that won't matter. NYS is looking at the school's current status which isn't fair in my opinion but that is how they are doing it. You need to call NYBON because they are the only ones that can clarify for you. That department is only available Tuesdays and Thursdays. 518-474-3817 ext. 280.
  5. Yes we will not see the draft of this upcoming meeting until the next board meeting after this one. If you look at all previous meetings, this is how they do things. Thank you for the update @NRSKarenRN.
  6. You would have to call NYBON to find out.
  7. In the same boat as you. I passed Jan 2023. I graduated in 2020, but program closed in 2021. If you want to be licensed in NY you will have to get an education from an accredited school. That is the only way as of now. Only upside is that you do not have to take the exam again. The education requirement has to be satisfied and they will issue the RN license. That is your only option.
  8. From what I am seeing, you may have issues. If you want to work in New Jersey you can get a Florida nursing compact license. New Jersey is a nursing compact state so you can work there without endorsement but would have to retain your Florida address. I am not sure if they would give problems on that end by still requesting information about your education. Connecticut is not a compact state and you would have to endorse your Florida license.
  9. The reason we are even in this predicament is because of the underhanded tactics of those certain Florida schools. They did provide valid a nursing education but because they were secretly selling diplomas on side, you education is null and void just by association. NYBON has the list of those people that actually purchased diplomas without an education. It was provided to them by the feds. Most people on here don't fall under that list. If you did, NYBON would of asked for your surrender of licensure. Unfortunately it put all approved schools under scrutiny. NYBON is just trying to protect the integrity of the nursing practice while they do there investigation. They still let students from certain schools test knowing that they wouldn't give a license which is where they messed up since some of students actually passed. All we can do now is wait for their decision, go to Florida take the boards, or get a NYS accredited nursing education. From they way things are looking, approved schools are a no go going forward but let's see what will happen with those that passed the boards already. Your anger should be with the Florida schools.
  10. Wow thanks for the update. Typical NYS BON. After reading, I can see that this is not an update. It's the same thing that they have been saying. This changes and addresses nothing. They took every answer they have given thus far and compiled it together. I guess it's better than nothing. The waiting game continues. I wish you all the best. As of now it's either go to Florida and take NCLEX again or go to an accredited school and have that education submitted to satisfy NYS BON requirements and receive NYS license. I don't think NYS will ever approve applicants with approved educations from Florida or any state for that matter. This is just the reality that has to be faced.
  11. I'm going to call. I'll let you know what they say. To be honest, calling 518-474-3817 ext 280 is for the processing unit all they are responsible for is the processing of documents, and are told what to do and say. Who you should be calling is the NYS Nursing Board the ones who are making these rules and decisions. Maybe that would put a fire under people to move along with the process and decision-making. Email: [email protected],Phone: 518-474-3817, Press 1 then ext. 120, Fax: 518-474-3706 Or try this email[email protected] which is the recommended email for people to usewho went to these fraudulent schools
  12. Yes it is crazy and really unfair. NYBON needs to do better.
  13. If there wasn't any type of fake diplomas being sold on the side then there would not been an issue. These Florida schools had acreddiation but were still approved. The original problem with these Florida schools were the low pass rates. Florida regulated that with probational periods and then closure with no improvement in pass rates. Despite being approved you still had to go class and attend clinicals like any other nursing school. Alot of students are suffering because they went to these schools and did the work legitimately but were unaware of the underhanded selling of diplomas without any schooling. Reputation of the school goes to *** along with your diploma. You now have that stigma just because you went to a Florida school and are considered a fraud even though you did your due diligence. It is really a sad situation.
  14. Yes the bad failing rates were a red flag but the main thing is that if the owners of the schools didn't start doing fraud to make a quick buck on the side then we wouldn't even be here on this forum. We would all be working.
