Nybon Nursing School Under Investigation

I finished my LPN-RN program from Carleen Health Institute. I took the NCLEX under New York state board and passed the exam. I'd been waiting on the license a couple of weeks and decided to call NYbon, was told the school is under review - hence they would not be issuing any licenses till the review is done. They also wouldn't give a time frame. Does anyone have any idea how long these reviews usually take or what could be done in situations like this?

I thought I was missing something cause im over here thinking how did they not get an ATT the school has to send something for them to be eligible to take the exam but anyway . This is becoming more interesting 

The Florida BON has informed me that if you passed the NCLEX in another state and can't get the scores, the FL BON will allow you to retest with out taking any additional classes.

 Operation Nightingale Update (11/15/2023)

The Department is committed to public protection by ensuring that all applicants have met the requirements in New York law to be licensed as a registered professional nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) in New York.

In January 2023, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced indictments of individuals allegedly engaged in providing fraudulent nursing diplomas and certificates to nursing students at six programs approved by the State of Florida. In New York, this translated to approximately 900 licensees and more than 2,000 applicants with allegedly fraudulent credentials from Florida schools. 

Schools previously approved by Florida had presented diplomas and transcripts to New York for students who did not actually complete required coursework and clinical experience. The Education Department continues to seek additional information to verify the veracity of documents and adequacy of education programs.

The Board of Regents adopted emergency regulations (8 NYCRR 64.1), effective April 18, 2023, that allow the Department to reject out-of-state nursing education programs approved by the licensing authority of another state, if such program or any part thereof is determined not to be satisfactory to SED. The DOH and DHHS investigations and prosecutions continue, adding schools to the list of those shuttered by the Florida Commission on Independent Education and the State Board for Nursing. 

Applicants for licensure in New York who submitted education from a program that is not satisfactory may have verification of nursing education from a New York-registered or accredited program that meets the requirements in the Education Law submitted for review. Verification must be submitted by the school with a transcript that does not include course work completed at a program deemed unsatisfactory by the Department.

Your very incorrect. NYBON  is not doing that. The ones that still have there license have renewed and was granted. There not stopping anyone. 

Like I have stated before NYS BON has three lists they are utilizing when it comes to Florida schools 

 

The list of Florida schools deemed fraudulent and federal being investigated. anyone who has not surrendered license but tried to renew won't be able to renew or get renewal fee back 

 

Second list 

Schools from florida that NYS BON personally has under review which only affects those trying to get a license after the school was put under review . Anyone who went to those certain schools and got a license before the school went under review are not affected by this decision . the hold is only for new test takers/ new people trying to get a NYS license

Third list

schools  from Florida not listed as of present day accredited. So those whose school is accepted (state only) probation or closed are on hold from being able to test /get a score report or a license.

 

Hopefully the breakdown of lists helps people better understand the order of things NYS BON has going on

People that went to Fraud School that have active license are being renewed.  There were only  few that surrender there license . These people are actively working in NY.  

So unless you work for NYS BON how do you know what they are or are not doing ... Simply amazes me how people are so concerned with what's going on with others. But I digress. This aggression and frustration should be directed  to the schools y'all gave money to not the boards who are finding fault with these schools

Herzing University has several locations across the U.S. 

Orlando location is listed under nursing program, but not on FL BON prelicensure program list.  Tampa program Associate is Approved while BSN is accredited.

I took literally one class at one of the schools and they told me I could sit for the boards. I called the Board of Nursing in Florida, NYBON said I could as well as long as I presented new Education from a new school.

As a new program,  Herzing  BSN LS is still listed as accredited with next review 2027; its the state that has placed it on probation as their 2023 NCLEX pass rate 79.31% below required 80%.  Many states do this to maintain high nursing standards getting nursing programs to improve their educational preparation.

If Herzing NCLEX rate increases by end 2024, may regain approved status. NY BON may reconsider.

They are good. I started with them and failed pharmacology and they wanted me to pay $3k to repeat but I didn't and went ahead to a different school to complete. Come to find out they was involved with the fraudulent scheme. I should've just paid and stayed cause all my mates are working RN

A class action lawsuit the NYS BON think they own the truth 

I went to Capscare Academy, which is not even on the list of fraudulent schools, yet I have not received my license in two years.

FYI I sent my assemble person my degree a copy of my transcript and my quick results that shows I passed. They reached out and long story short. It resulted in the same thing. Just keep waiting till the review is done. If anyone else had been able to get help from their assemble person. Please tell me what else I can do.
