I work at NYU Medical Center and I love it! I know they definitely take travelers, having worked with one in the OR as a student in clinicals. It's on 33rd St. on the east side of Manhattan.

how did it take for license? I am working on getting NP license there and have heard different things, i called they said 6-8 weeks, a recruiter called and they said 2-4 weeks.

It took about 10-11 weeks to get my license (I was heading toward the 3 month mark when it finally came through).

ohh I would love to go to NYC but I am scared to death to go to such a huge city. I would love to live in Manhattan, but worry about housing. I would hate to be housed outside the city. But isn't it difficult to find apts there?

I hope I can go there during thanksgiving/xmas season someday for an assignment.

NYU, St Lukes/Roosevelt, Methodist, Lutheran, Bellevue and Pres all take travellers. I don't know your specialty but I've heard terrible things about NYU L&D/PP.

Don't limit yourself to Manhattan for sure! NYC is huge!

I just completed an assignment on L&D at NY Roosevelt Hosp..... I couldn't get out of there fast enough!! Started counting down my contract days after my FIRST shift....

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL FOR L&D ASSIGNMENT!!!!

Could you tell me why you don't like Roosevelt's L&D? I've heard good things about it, since they have the birthing center for women who want a natural birth experience. What specifically was so bad about it, if you don't mind me asking?
