  1. I am anxiously waiting. I applied to the online FNP Masters program. One of my friends got her email Friday (May 5th) morning and the other Monday (May 8th) morning. Both were around 9:30 am.
  2. Was told today that base pay is $36 with $2200/month housing...in Napa
  3. wow. this thread go off topic fast. lol.
  4. Following! I am doing the same. Looking at CPMC & some hospitals in Napa. Curious as to what the pay is. Good luck!
  5. I was Cornell. Yes, I hated the 3/4 day shift thing too.
  6. What cities or hospitals brought home the bacon for you as a travel nurse? I am just curious. Mine was New York Presbyterian in NYC.
  7. If you are still in school and can choose your own clinical rotations for your last semester, do ICU. Most of the nurses in my classes were scared of it but this will give you a better chance of getting an ICU position right out of school. This is your best bet! Good luck!

Thanks for all of the responses. I am the one who started this post. I ended up taking the position in the ICU and it was the worst assignment I have ever taken. I floated 50% the time to "step-down." And because most of the nurses were new, I was the one with the most experience. It was horrible. They are more focused on "protocols" then actual patient care. For example, I had a patient I was admitting for resp distress. The nurses were more concerned about rolling the pt over to obtain a VRE swab and take pictures of there wounds then taking care of there resp distress. That isn't the priority when admitting a critically ill patient. The free floating charge nurse never helped. She only sat at the computer and audited charts all night. The doctors on nights were also horrible. I would never step foot in that hospital. They have money and that's why they have a good rep. I did meet some awesome people and made what I could of it. Also, the pay was great! I am not usually a negative person and can make due anywhere. I ended up going to Kaiser on Sunset in the ICU afterwards and enjoyed it.
  9. I have been offered a travel position in the CVICU at Pitt County. Has anyone worked here? How is Greenville? I was in LA and NYC before this so I am a bit worried but grew up in Charleston, SC.

Anyone traveled there before? About to start in Med-Surg ICU. How about housing around that area? Thanks!!!

Stanford sounds like my type of hospital. Do they have a CTICU or CCU? How was the housing and commute?
  12. Wow! Thanks! Any good hospitals in CT that you know of?
  13. Anyone worked there? ICU? Liked it or not? THANKS!
  14. I will def have to remember not to go here. THanks!

I have heard you can have it put in your contract that you will not float. I have been floated to floors where I have 6 patients and I am an ICU nurse who has never had more than 2. I thought I was going to go crazy.
