  1. I agree with you. I have lived in much better places and can't wait to leave- I hate Houston. It is great that we all have different tastes, otherwise we would all be living in the same spot!! I forgot who said this quote or if I remember it correctly "One mans hell is another mans paradise" AMEN!!!
  2. I wish I lived in Alaska :)
  3. Thank you, I will check it out :)
  4. You will find something! I am a '09 new grad with a lot less experience than you have (with an ADN to boot) and have had MANY recent job offers in the past 3 months from hospitals. I finally had to start turning down interviews because it was getting out of control. I am very picky and I was looking for the perfect fit for me, in a specialty I like, at a place I could stay long term at, etc etc- and thankfully I finally found it! :) You will too, especially if you are half as picky as I am!
  5. Are there any respectable childcare options for night shift in Houston? I live in the Cypress area and will be working night shift in the Medical center. I need someone to watch my kids and I dont really have any friends or relatives in the area... does anyone have any suggestions. I don't really want a stranger I don't know in my home... I don't go to church so I cant ask anyone from there. Help
  6. It looks unprofessional and cheap. Imagine a lawyer wearing a suit with teddy bears on it in the corporate world...
  7. I worked for free during clinical rotations in nursing school. Now I want to get PAID.
  8. "considered for employment" after completion?! Wow... I think the same sort of probationary period should apply to this as it does for a regular employee-- there should be a job waiting for you after completion unless you fail the 30, 60, 90 day probationary period like any other hired nurse would- I don't think it is fair to only be "considered" after working for free for that amount of time, unless they let you go once they knew you would not be a good fit, rather than letting you work for free for them.
  9. I recently graduated from nursing school and when we went to clinicals you were NOT allowed to have a tattoo showing. They made you cover it with a band aid or go home if you showed up to the site without it concealed. I would wear a long sleeve shirt that covered it during interviews- but, where I work I see alot of nurses with tattoos. We don't have a policy that requires them to cover them. Good luck with school!
  10. It has something to do with caffeine causing a surge in insulin... my doctor explained it to me once because I also get hypoglycemic after having a caffeinated drink.
  11. Why would she lose her friends? Doesn't she still have 4 nights OFF per week to see them? I am not getting it? I also don't work nights so there might be something I am missing. I would think if she worked 5 nights a week there may be an issue, but if she only works 3 nights then whats the problem? I'm not trying to argue.. I am really just curious!
  12. Just send a text message--KIDDING I would do both like others mentioned(e-mail & hard copy), that way you have proof it was sent.
  13. You could always apply-- you may or may not get hired.. also, be careful about burning bridges. I wouldn't tell the new place you are already working-- they will think your a job hopper and that you will leave them as well. JMO
  14. :yeah:Congrats to ALL of you!!! It is a HUGE accomplishment and a TON of sacrifice!!!
  15. I like both of those ideas.. I get bored hearing the same music over and over again. Those two things will def keep me entertained, thanks!
