hey guys! I recently graduated last April 2013 and I didn't take my PNLE because my mom told me they don't require it since I'm a green card holder but as I browse through the NY NCLEX website it is stated that I need THE CVS from CGFNS. As I checked the CGFNS website I'm not sure if I'm still required to have my local license.
Who is this service for?
The following health care professionals educated outside the United States who wish to practice in New York State:

As stated above it is for RN right? does it mean that I still have to take the local boards or not? and also I already applied online and there's a part for validation of license. Can I just skip this part sine I don't have one?
I'm still in the Philippines right now and planning to fly to NY this June. What are the documents I might be needing?

In my opinion, you don't need to take the Philippine Nurse exam like you said. But in case in the future, you decide to get licensed in other jurisdictions aside from NY, the Philippine license might be required.
Thank you for your reply. Worst scenario would be going back here just to take the local board exam. anyway, are you a US RN already?

Hi im ann,i graduated nursing in philippines also, and came here in U.S last year ,same situation like urs. Im in new jersey, but i applied nclex in new york. U only need to bring all ur credentials but the state of board in ny required u to verify ur credential through cgfns i think it cost like 390$ for Cvs . U also need to sent an application in state of board in ny. it takes like 6 or 8 months before i get my letter from ny board.

hi im nieva.. im also applying in NY. i just started my application last monday. I didnt have a philippine license as well. I did my online application on CGFNS and they didnt require me a local license verification form.. they waived that requirment since i put on my application that i havent had a license in the philippines
how about your prc cases? Does the state of new york still requires it just like in California? Currently having problems with this one. Because our previous dean told me to ask for hospital base cases from our clinical instructors because most of my cases are from lying-in clinics. How about you guys?

Is new york affected by the concurrency issue like cali BON?
based from someone who took the NCLEX just a year a ago, I don't think NY has concurrency issues.

Or wait for the cgfns first? Also how bout the child abuse and infection control? Do i need to take the course first before sending my application? What forms di i need to send to school? Tnx

Starting point would be CVS with CGFNS as that can take up to 6 months. Look on NY BON website and it will list online courses you can do for child abuse and infection control.CGFNS are the ones that send out for all relevant documents
Tnx for ur reply silverdragon102, so after paying the 390 for cvs thats it? I just need to wait for the cgfns to have my documents sent to them?they will be the one to request evrything? I dont need to send anything to school? Im confuse bcoz in cgfns site when i register there is some form that says filled up by school?
You have to fill out school information etc but otherwise CVS requires CGFNS to get all relevant documents. After a couple of months I would then suggest submitting NY BON application which I believe is just form 1
