NVCC Spring 2018 Hybrid Program

Published

Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!!

May the odds be ever in our favor

I just got another email from 'MEC Counselor'. Telling us about the requirements for the Fall 2018 program in the event we don't get in. The email ends with , "The next email you receive will be from the nursing division, Good Luck!"

Specializes in Telemetry.
Can't help it. This is my third time applying. Last time, they told me my Chemistry was too old, so I retook Chem. I'm getting too old for this crap and unfortunately it doesn't look like EMTs and Paramedics are getting a pay raise anytime soon.

Oh, no, I thought it was only the BIO 141/142/150 that had to be completed recently? Where does it say that the high school chemistry needs to be recent?

Just got that too and nearly had a heart attack opening it.

Specializes in Medical Critical Care Step-Down..

We need to be careful information we put up here. Chemistry has never been a requirement for admission. That it might help is something we don't know but I doubt it. Good luck to all next week..

Chemistry is definitely a requirement

"Have one High School Chemistry course or CHM 101 or CHM 111 with a grade of "C" or higher." I copied this directly from the requirements listed for the program.

Are you in the right thread? No Chem for NVCC :)

Ah. I see forgot about that. High school Chen is what I have!

Yes, it most certainly is.

How many of you took the NAS classes?

Keep in mind, I graduated from high school over 10 years ago. I was told high school science courses had to be less than 10 years old.
