  1. I got the same "passing your app along" email on Oct 12th. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they aren't shafting the hybrid cohort like that. Last year when I applied they took 65 so if they only take 25 this year....I feel like I can't win with this place. What are your guys' plan b?
  2. I remember that. Crappy way to start break, AND they sent generic rejection letters. I was so pissed... What's your backup plan Cleo? I've started also taking classes towards UMD's nursing program - they look at the whole academic career and take work experience into consideration, as well as LORs.
  3. I have not received a processing letter yet, but I'm hoping to get one in the next week! I've been trying to find out how many students they're accepting this year, and rumors ar e that it will be more than the 65 they took last year, which is promising.
  4. Hey all! Starting a thread for those applying to NVCC (Northern Virginia Com Coll) for the spring nursing program! This is my second time applying - tried for last Spring but didn't make it - my grades are a mix of mostly B's and some A's and I got 87.5, 80 and 90 on my TEAS sections. I really wish they'd let us use LORs or at least consider work experience. And I'm so glad they raised the TEAS requirements back to 78 - I heard that threw everything off for last year and that's why so many people applied. I also heard that they are accepting more people overall this year, so fingers crossed!!! May the odds be ever in our favor
  5. That change doesn't go into effect until 2018
  6. I was initially planning to do the ASN then a ASN-MSN program but didn't get in to my top choice (again, insert largest eye roll ever) and am now looking at UMSON again. Cost and availability for work and school was the biggest draw back but now I'm reconsidering because I just want to get on with school already! To anyone that has been through UMSONs program, I've been working in direct patient care for the past 4yrs and have been taking mostly online classes but in looking at the application they ask for academic over professional LORs. Do you think that'll be a big negative against me? I don't really know any of my professors and feel like it would be awkward asking them for one.
  7. I just got my rejection letter...65 PEOPLE?! So frustrating and disheartening. And yes, same rude and unprofessional generic letter with an "apology" email following.
  8. I got my confirmation email 10/24 and mailed my app out on the first day we were allowed to (8/22?). From what I've read/heard, they're supposed to send both acceptance and rejection emails/letters. I've done most of the co-req's, my gpa is decent, and I'm retaking BIO141 this semester for a better grade juuuuust in case lol. I really wish their process was setup a bit differently...like interviews, personal letters/statements, letters of req, or even take into account current work experience. This has been a bit frustrating for me mostly because I work a full-time job and do classes so I feel like my grades suffer somewhat from that. I'm going to the open house tomorrow, so hopefully I can find out some info on how many people applied and how many spots they're looking to fill! I've seen on here before that they used to accept everyone that was eligible and I'm really hoping that the case this time around.
  9. The only email I've gotten from them was an email saying that it was being processed and nothing was missing from my packet, which I'm praying is a good sign.
  10. For this upcoming semester 400 people still applied!?
  11. I think it's interesting not many people have found/commented on this thread. I wonder if that has any predictive factors on how many people are actually applying lol, other forums had tons of people commenting about applications. I got an email saying that they haven't stopped my app yet, only a few more weeks to find out!
  12. I checked my tracking and my app was delivered Wednesday! Cue the anxiety for the next few months..... I heard that the Fall was crazy due to a large influx of apps, and I'm praying that doesn't happen with the Spring. Does anyone else hate that they don't allow interviews, letters of rec, personal statements, etc?
