Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.

What are the chances the reason there are so many applicants is because people who didn’t meet all the requirements applied too? Thinking it would be the same as last year when they couldn’t fill all the spots. Being hopeful here ?

Yeah I think it's partly because they changed the pre-reqs and only require BIO141 and not 142.

Are they allowing retakes for TEAS for July ? I’ve already used by two attempts ?..I’m a horrible standardized test taker.i really wish they allowed me to attach my resume..

Your attempts restart with each application cycle. If the requirements stay the same, then we will have 2 chances to take between July and Sept(spring application cycle.)

Does any one have any new information? I want to call but I’m sure they are being bombarded right now.

Update us if you call please!

My friend and I both applied back in January and we just got our emails. ? looks like I'll have to wait till January. I suspect is that I submitted a TEAS that was taken in October. Looks like people are getting emailed in real time.

What do you mean you have to wait until January? I haven’t received any emails so I’m confused.

it said that my application was marked not eligible and it sent me to their blog. After reading it I realized I submitted my TEAS from October of last year. I was trying to avoid taking again and figured they wouldn't enforce that requirement.

So no I'll hav eto take it and apply for the Spring/january start.

Not unless you have any specific questions, I would wait to call if you haven't heard anything after 8 weeks after the deadline (per the confirmation email).

Sorry to hear that. Did your email say rejection or file not complete?

Oh ok thank you for responding. How did you on the Teas? What did you use to help with the sections, especially reading? I had a hard time with reading and english.

One of the MEC advisors told me about trying to focus on active reading strategies. He said that it helps with maximizing your ability to absorb understand information quickly. he also told me to get in the habit of reading every day. Got a kindle on sale and I try to read a little every day. Here is one site, https://mcgraw.princeton.edu/active-reading-strategies that talks about active reading strategies.

I got 90 on reading, 85 on English, 95 on math and 63 in the science, but my scores were from out of the application window. I didn't want to retake them and figured I could slide under the radar. Hopefully, I do as well when I take it again.
