Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.
No idea. I did all the requirements, A on my prerequisites, 86% on TEAS, but when I submitted my application the other day I got an email saying my high school transcripts aren’t accepted because it’s from an international school. I didn’t see anywhere on the requirements list that high school transcripts needs to be evaluated by a specific company. Even on the info session it said HS diploma. Anyway, I don’t think I’m getting in so now I’m just looking for Plan B.

They gave me a hard time with my transcripts. Last year I did see something that said it takes 6 weeks for domestic and 8 weeks for international. My transcripts were domestic and took about 4.5 weeks. They lost my transcripts last year and i had to submit again. I had to stay on top of them when it came to transcript evaluations.

Right. I didn’t know any of that. I’ve been in NOVA for 2 years, and when I first enrolled here I showed them my transcripts and they said it was all good. Plus, I’ve double checked the requirements list for the nursing application and they really didn’t say anything about high school transcripts being evaluated. There is a specific line that said, “college courses taken outside of NOVA needs to be evaluated.” Anyway, when I went to see a counselor and talked to them about this and how it really wasn’t stated, he just shrugged and said, “well, we assume all students graduate high school in America.”

wow that is crazy for him to say that. Did you start the evaluating process? You should be able to use the same score for Spring cohort. Unless they sent you a rejection letter, dont give up!

I know! Really unprofessional excuse. Exactly, unless I get a rejection letter I’m not giving up! But I’m also looking for other options just in case.

Check here for pass rates of schools in VA. They have LPN, ADN and BSN schools. This is what I looked at a while ago. You might recognize some other options in our area.

Sorry. I just saw this. I have a 4.0 cumulative , Teas overall=75.5, 76.5 reading, 87.5 math, 72 science, and 68 english. I have horrible test anxiety so my Teas scores definitely dont reflect my potential. But if I have to retake it, I will.

They only extended it last year because they barely had enough people apply that also met the requirements.
