Hello , Everyone I'm a third semester student at Northern Virginia Community College and I know this is a bit early to be inquiring about nursing school but I just would like to get a head start on getting to know everyone interested in applying! I'm excited for the upcoming semester! i have some ice breakers to get this conversation started as well. Has anyone taken the TEAS test yet and if so how was your experience? and also do you have any remaining classes to take before applying.
As long as you meet the requirements, keep applying until you get in.

Plus the teas reqs are changing to 3 attempts a year. So if you used 2 for this cycle then you only have 1 more. The counselors just screen however many student that meet ALL req then send upstairs. The nursing dept ranks then selects. And from what Shaw told me they rank on a spreadsheet then select the number. Im still stuck only one more chance.
Oh an they go through applications based on when you submitted. So it sounds like they are on the mid Feb apps .
Ouch. I was still KINDA hoping I’d make it in despite my high school transcripts not from US. But I guess that automatically takes me out of the criteria since it wasn’t evaluated. Plus, with the huge number of applicants who have completed requirements will definitely be chosen than me. Sigh. Time to look for other programs and schools to apply to!

I didnt ask. I was too annoyed lol. She was giving me options for other programs that I could apply, which was slim pickings. I complained that every program needed some specialized class. For example Physics for sonography.
They just changed the nursing website and have one unified application portal for all program now, https://www.nvcc.edu/medical/apply/index.html. hopefully, we'll have the final details for the Spring 2020 application.

Hey, I came across this blog that may have some helpful info for you. I'm on the same boat as well being that my HS transcript is international. Have you taken any of these courses?
"We understand that in some situations it may be difficult to obtain your international transcripts and to have them evaluated for U.S. equivalence. Under these circumstances, a student will need to take the General Education Development (GED) test and, if you are applying for admission to any of the Nursing tracks, complete the following courses either by taking classes at NVCC or through Nursing ABC: BIO 101, CHM 101, and MTT 4 or higher."
oh my God. I just found out about the backgound check requirement. On the application it stated that you would be notified on how to submit the background check doc if you are accepted. I had no idea you had to do it prior to applying. How the heck did i miss that?? So that means my application is considered incomplete and therefore automatically rejected?? i am sooo upset right now My God.

Sorry to hear that but don’t discourage yourself. This cycle is a mess and is making me reconsider my application. When did you apply?

I would get it done now. The nursing division hasn't gotten the applications yet and the background check isn't looked at during the application cycle.
