Hi there,
I haven't seen a thread for this yet and there has been one for just about every semester at MEC, so I decided to make one.
I'm currently studying for the TEAS and I've printed out the Fall 2018 application to work on but there are some very confusing elements (and possibly typos?) on it so I plan on asking on Monday. Since they changed nearly everything from previous years I feel like they made some mistakes (possibly).
Is anyone else a little confused? For instance, they tell you not to get a background check until notified to do so, but the complete checklist on the application they give you instructs you to initial that you've completed the background check.
Does anyone else have any questions about it?
I just received the email regarding the deadline extension. Mine says "Cohort 2" I fall that means anything. I did submit my application on the last day of the deadline, so maybe that put me in cohort 2? All I know is that this application process is taking much longer than we had hoped haha Just accept everyone already NVCC!
I've never applied before to the program. the email stated ''We are reaching out in the event that you plan to apply to the fall 2018 Nursing traditional program. The Nursing division has extended the original application deadline of March 20, 2018, at 11:59 PM to March 27, 2018 at 11:59 PM." I applied the next day. I took psy230 over the 1st 8 weeks.
Per new rules, you need a minimum of 78% in each area to apply. If you do not gave that, it is likely the reason you are not hearing back. I have a 88% average on all sections.
I didn't ever receive a rejection, taking my application to the next step, or even not meeting the minimum requirements.
I just called the MEC campus asking why the deadline has been extended. the lady at first said that she doesn't know the reason, then she said maybe they didn't reach the number they want. I told her I didn't get any email notifying me that my application has been taken to the next step. she said we didn't send any email but we reached out for the applicants who has something missing in their application. that lady doesn't know much. could any body tell me what is the mail you got states ? and what is the difference between cohort 1 & 2
I'm really anxious. I have an A on all my prerequisites but my Teas score is not perfect. I hope they would make an exception this year.

Did you score over 78 on Reading, Math and English?
Did you score over 78 on Reading, Math and English?
I did on Math and English, but I scored 74.5% on reading. I wasn't planning to apply until receive the email that stated "

I didn't even receive an email saying that I didn't meet the minimum requirements. I look like a dummy fighting for something that would never happen. This TEAS test doesn't really measure my skills. I'm not a standardized test person.
Yeah, she definitely misinformed you. I don't think the cohort number is significant. If anything, it's probably grouped up with others who sent in their application during the same time. I would recommend that you contact Ms. Amato and cc the MEC counselor email address to inquire about your application status.
In summary, the email states that the application has been moved onto the next round of reviews and that the Nursing department will be in touch to let us know if we have been offered acceptance/admission to the program.

jpals- it said it was from the application processing team from the applymec email!
blb28, I was thinking that too and I got so excited for a second. But I work at a hospital and I'm concerned about scheduling too because they schedule out like 2 months in advance! It would be unprofessional of the nursing program to notify us too late in the summer so I am hoping it won't be too long after the May 8th deadline that they make decisions!
