I haven't seen a thread for this yet and there has been one for just about every semester at MEC, so I decided to make one.
I'm currently studying for the TEAS and I've printed out the Fall 2018 application to work on but there are some very confusing elements (and possibly typos?) on it so I plan on asking on Monday. Since they changed nearly everything from previous years I feel like they made some mistakes (possibly).
Is anyone else a little confused? For instance, they tell you not to get a background check until notified to do so, but the complete checklist on the application they give you instructs you to initial that you've completed the background check.
Stop waiting. Email MEC, copy Daria Amato now. What do you got to lose? You'll get a response from them. If you don't, call them and email more of them. Their email addresses are on the website. I would think you would still get a "do not qualify" email. There is a chance your application has moved along with others, but take no chance.
Anyone else so bummed they extended the deadline?? I keep counting the number of weeks its been since they said we would be notified in 6-8 weeks and I wish it had been 5 weeks already instead of 4. The closer it gets to 6 weeks, the more inpatient I'm getting haha I was looking at the thread for the spring and also last fall and it looks like they got decisions around 4 weeks!! SO NERVOUS!
yes, but it looks like they got new management now doing things different. Again, the application period is way earlier now giving them time to delay if need be. Time is what it is. We will get there.

I received an email from NVCC to apply for the program. I wasn't even thinking to apply because my TEAS score is not competitive, but my GPA is 4.00. I applied already. didn't hear anything back till now.
Per new rules, you need a minimum of 78% in each area to apply. If you do not gave that, it is likely the reason you are not hearing back. I have a 88% average on all sections.
So I finally received word from MEC. They told me that they sent me an email on April 12th to let me know that my application has been forwarded along, but I checked and checked through my email and I didn't receive it. Still, it's good to hear back from them. Still curious as to when they'll notify us about acceptances...
Rna2739, I scored a 93.6% in Reading, 93.8% in Math, and 95.8% in English. I took the Science portion too, but NVCC is only asking for the first three that I listed. My GPA, I believe, was a 3.6. What did they tell you on your latest correspondence with them?
Hahahaha... These guys are funny. They made admission criteria more difficult and now are struggling to get the people they need. At the top of the email, you see the word, "cohort 1". This may mean that they intend to give priority to us anyhow. Honestly, I doubt more people would apply now that didn't think they needed to earlier.. Except those completing prerequisite late. They can send us admission letters and then while we wait for fall semester, open up admission for more people. That would be a fair way to do this. This isn't pleasant at all, but what can we do? Where it would be heart breaking would be to wait so long and end up not being admitted.
I'm so annoyed! I also noticed the "cohort 1" thing and am really curious of its purpose. I agree that not many more people will apply since I'm sure they looked into the program, saw the date, and think its too late already. Its frustrating to have to wait a month only to find out we basically have to wait 2 more months because they changed their mind about the deadline...
I haven't received any additional information regarding the application deadline... Was that e-mail sent by student services or the Nursing department? I was forwarded the email they sent me on April 12th, which I didn't receive because they typed my email down wrong with a "K" instead of an "L"... I've, of course, let them know of this mistake, and I also inquired about the new deadline extension.
That really stinks though... I'm hoping that it isn't true!

How did they know to email you, did you apply previously? Or are they just emailing anyone who, for example, is enrolled in PSY 230 right now?
I was so excited for a second; I thought maybe this was THE email! Ugh.
I just would love to know of potential orientation dates in case I get in so I can plan the next few months without a possible scheduling conflict. Surely they won't make us wait until June to find out if we got in or not?!?!
