NVCC MEC nursing fall '17

Published

Hi all,

i submitted my app for the fall nursing program a week and a half ago so I figured I'd start a forum for all the NVCC MEC nursing applicants to communicate with each other while we anxiously wait for our faith. If anyone in the program or have graduated from the program would like to give some advice, please do!

I just spoke with one of the counselors & he said the tentative notification date was Thurs. June 8th, with the orientation probably being scheduled for June 15th. Finalized orientation info will be in the acceptance emails.

He also said the Dean has not yet decided how many students they'll be accepting & the numbers shown in SIS for clinical spaces/lecture spaces are just rollover places from the previous year & they haven't uploaded any new info, which they'll do later.

I'm very glad to (hopefully) know soon, but I'll be scrambling to get to the orientation, if it really is on June 15th, as I'm currently away visiting family.

That's awesommmeeee news. Thanks for asking and sharing! I better be looking to see if my sitter is available that day myself. LOL Man, if its June 8th WE ARE ALMOST THERE, GUYS!í ½í¸„

I really hope June 8th is correct, I am so anxious.

To be honest, the counselors have all been saying a lot of different stuff and since I know that they have nothing to do with the admissions process, I can say that I'm not holding my breath on tomorrow being decision day (although it would be nice!)

For the 100th comment in the case that we do receive decisions soon, I just wanted to remind everyone not to let themselves be totally devoid of hope once the first rounds of decisions come up. It's very likely that since the people who get in are exceptional, they may have been admitted to other programs like ABSN programs that suit their schedules more, so they would decline their acceptance and more spots would open up. Don't lose all hope when acceptances go out and you don't get yours with the first round! There are more to come :)

Which is why I definitely said "tentative", as it was the word they used.

I'm taking everything with a large grain of salt.

The reason I called was to explicitly ask about orientation, as I'm currently an eight hour plane ride away, visiting family.

They volunteered both dates, but obviously nothing is set in stone.

Decisions will go out on Monday, June 12th. Friday is possible but not likely. Expect it anytime from afternoon. Orientation around June 21st. Prediction!

I also kinda feel like Monday will be it. QUICK someone go stalk last year's post to see what day of the week D day was hahhaha

Last year it looks like they announced it on the 23rd and 24th of June which was a Thursday and Friday.

Who is brave enough to give student services a call? Lol. I'm actually a little nervous about it being today even though i am a skeptic~

last year people were sent an email saying they would be announcing it the next day. I haven't received any new emails so I am thinking it might be next week instead.

Did they really? I could have sworn that last year they received an email saying that the admissions would be announced later that same day (that email was sent out at 2:00pm) and then at 4:00pm acceptances had been sent out. I could be wrong, though!

Even though it may be too early to discount today, I think it might have been too quick for them to have finisehd the domicile review. However, there's always a chance that they just have a better system of doing it than they did last year! I also think it's going to be next week but even so I'm still checking my email profusely haha.

I'm at work so I can't call SS, if anyone else is free let us know what they say!
