NVCC MEC nursing fall '17

Hi all,

i submitted my app for the fall nursing program a week and a half ago so I figured I'd start a forum for all the NVCC MEC nursing applicants to communicate with each other while we anxiously wait for our faith. If anyone in the program or have graduated from the program would like to give some advice, please do!

Did you have to apply for grants/scholarships or did they do a discount based off what they had going on? That is very tempting as we are not guaranteed to stay here past 2020.

ViviennesHeart - Yes, I knew about the Mason program, but I'm currently missing one of the prereqs (Bioethics). I might pick it up though. I'd have to figure out which program (GMU vs. ODU) is more cost effective.

CabeRNetMama - I didn't need to submit any type of seperate application; SU awarded me a GPA based "academic transfer scholarship" a "nursing grant" & then the VTAG (Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant). My overall GPA is 3.9 & my prereq GPA is 4.0.

Just a heads up that that they just gave an update on the facebook page regarding application processing.

I Just received a message from NOVA Medical Education Campus's FB page!:

Student Services at the Medical Education Campus has concluded processing all nursing Traditional and Nursing LPN to Rn applications. Nursing applications will be forwarded to the nursing office for ranking after a final review of domicile status is completed.

!!!! Ahhhh so last year according to the FB page, they had finished their review on June 13th and then on June 22nd they said they were nearly done with the Domicile review and then on June 23rd they sent out acceptances! So, I think for sure we'll hear back on the 15/16!

Good afternoon,

I am sure you get so many emails, and I know that you may not have any idea but all of us nursing hopefuls are obsessively checking email, the MEC facebook page and blog for an update for the nursing program applications, and haven't come across anything. I am in a forum with other students, so we have been chatting back and forth, but all of us are losing sleep! lol Is it possible to get an update to ease our mind of when to expect a teeny tiny update? Even if it means that there is still another few week wait to hear back, (boy we hope not haha) I know all of us would be grateful! Thank you so much for working so hard during your summer break for us all, we all GREATLY appreciate it.

I just got another message from them saying that it could be even later than the 15th - it all depends on how long the domicile review takes. Which could take a bit, because even though I'm a citizen when I had my domicile review last year I had to get my parents to come in and show copies of their green cards, which took a few days to work around their schedules!

Is the domicile review secondary to what we have turned in (like proof of residence ect?)

Eligibility for In-State Tuition :: Northern Virginia Community College

You can read more about domicile review there! I think they will certainly ask if you need to turn in something else. I think this is for the people who haven't ever enrolled in NOVA before!

So MEC student services messaged me and said

So I guess domicile status reviews were already in the works!
