Howdy. Is it as bad as you thought? lol I hope not. I heard you guys had to give actual bed baths in lab, sweet, lol The course gets better when you start ur clinicals, then you get to make up your nursing plans, joy joy!! There are books in the library that can help you with them. Or check out half.com or ur book stores. Half.com would be cheaper, and havaing a book totally up to date isnt that important. I have "Nursing care care plans 6th ed) ISBN 9780323039543 Its a good book. if your short for cash, it is not a MUST have! check ur local libraries as well. Check ebay and search for "nursing care plans" some older books for like $5!!

As well for ur drug passage exam that you take in LAB, you will get a list of drugs you need drug cards for! Think there was a list of about 30. One can either make them up on ur own, OR buy drug cards! MEC bookstore has them or Borders! if you sign up for a Borders reward card (its free) u get weekly coupons emailed to ya, and quite often they are for 20% off!! And they have the Mosby ones and Med-Deck. i ahve the Med Deeck and i think it was only mssing one of the drugs that we had to know. During the drug passage exam, ur allowed to look at ur med cards if u forget, just like you would on the floor! At least that was the case last yr, things are always changing! Cheers

I agree that she's all bark and no bite. I would honestly not have a huge problem with taking her again, except for the fact that that schedule was hard on me last semester when I did it. I am glad you got your lecture and lab! Merry Christmas to you, too!

Semester went very well, no complaints. 1 more to go, he hawww. No more little "filler" classes which will be nice. I normally find the finals easier than the regular exams!! Going to try and keep better notes this semester and complete the first few weeks of reading prior to class start, but I always say that, lol. I'm chilling in Tampa, just back fro a day of roller coaster riding at Busch Gardensa, had a blast, and of course have to have 1 or 3 buds, since one is at "busch" gardens!! Best of luck to everyone in 2009.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, guys!

Thank you so much for all of your advice and support.

I was very close to an A, but couldn't make it. I had to have 99 on final. I got 91. It's okay. Yes, better notes next semester. That is my New Year resolution too.

Happy Holidays!

What kind of homework do you have in the nursing program? And no, I am not talking about the supporting courses, that won't apply to me. A few of my prerequisite friends have "friends in the NVCC nursing program" and told me that there are a lot of research papers. Is that true? I was under the impression that the homework was mostly reading and self-study plus assignments required prior to labs.

There are papers that you are required to write for NUR150, NUR254 &NUR 255 but they really aren't that big of a deal. You also have to turn in careplans during each clinical rotation and the psych rotation requires you to do little reports/journals/recordings. But all of these things are not things people fail at or have a difficult time with but they are time consuming. The most difficult part about the program are the tests and the finals. You will do fine just keep up with your studying, make friends and keep your eyes on the prize.

The required papers are not overly difficult. Find a good proof reader and your set. I belive http://www.nvcc.edu/medical/tutoring/ will even look over your papers!!

Care plans do take a bit of time. Some profs want one for each week, others just require one a rotation! The Psych paperwork isn't that difficult. The key is to get started and just do the required work, putting it off does not help! As well, some clinical profs do assign homework, but again, its not a huge burden. Majority of people that fail the program is from the tests from the lectures, a few fail the math dosage exam, but vast majority fail the exams. Study, and study some more
