It’s definitely there. In the comments it mentions they will let us know this week or next.

Thanks for jumping in and helping me clear this up. That is in fact the thread of comments I read through. I really thought there was a specific post and not just the comment. A post that read the same as what was posted on this thread. The only comment I could find was less confirmational and more so a timeline as it says (don't normally).

Comment: "Admissions letters/emails for nursing don't normally go out until end of may/first week of June."

Compared to the notification we got on this thread which reads as follows...

Allnurses post: "MEC Application Team has completed its review of nursing applications. Admissions letters/emails will more than likely be sent last week of May First week of June."

I might have been mistaken, nonetheless, thanks for checking & I hope we all receive some good news very soon.

Agreed! Fingers crossed for us all.

They posted that on here!

We expect notices to go out the Middle of May ( May 15) to the first week of June ( June 5th). Over the years the notices have gone out in that time frame. Sometimes it happens before May 15th and some time after June 5th. Do to a variety of reasons the dates change from year to year.

Understood, is there a reason acceptance letters go out so long after they have been processed? We got word that they were processed 20 days ago on May 6th. Any clarity is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Could be that that comment referred to the Step 2 "Review" phase (determining residency, etc), and that all applications have been in the Step 3 Ranking phase for the past 3 weeks. No idea - just throwing out possibilities.

I think you’re right! The mec application teams makes sure everyone has the correct prerequisites and residency, etc. which was finished May 6th, then it goes to the Nursing admissions team to rank which is what we’re waiting on to finish!

Gotcha, that makes sense.

I think this is right too. Looking at last year’s thread, the last of the “review” confirmation emails went out exactly a month before acceptance letters were sent. If we’re on the same timeline this year, acceptances should go out next week!

It will be interesting to see if the Fall semester is online or in-person, and what ramifications that will have on the program. I haven't found anything official on NVCC's website. GMU's site they are hoping to be in-person. I guess time will tell.

To be honest, I haven’t even been worried about that. I’m just worried about getting in first ? but I’m assuming there will be mostly hybrid classes, but who knows.

I was wondering the same thing. Which do you prefer? It's a bit hard to process when you consider safety vs in-class experience. I am also very curious about what they will decide. I hope they announce soon.

The program is already somewhat hybrid. The first semester has 4 classes and one is fully online, 2 of them have no lecture time in person, and one has part of its lecture online. It’s one day of class (which many of the weeks is only one class that day), 1 day with the 2 lab sessions, and 1 day of clinical part of the semester. It worked out for me to be about 20-25 hours a week of reading, homework, listening to lectures and watching videos. We teach ourselves most of the foundational content and then in class apply that knowledge.

The Spring cohort did as much as they could to catch up. I’m guessing we will start in person and then transition to online for class meetings at bare minimum. Labs are the hard part, and clinicals first semester are long term care and that’s a big issue with controlling the spread of Covid-19. I know the Spring cohort will have to make up labs in the fall. Currently the VA Board of Nursing requires half of our clinical hours in person, and the other half can be done virtually or in simulation lab. That’s how we stayed caught up this semester since we couldn’t go back to clinical after the halfway point of the semester.
