Hi,
I just need some insight from all of you...I am planning to apply for nursing at NVCC for fall 2016. I have finished all my prerequisites and general requirement with the gpa of 3.7 but my teas score is on the lower side. I still have two chances to take it again but the student services have told me that since I passed I can't take it again. Is it true? If I were to take it again, will the nursing team take my highest score for consideration? Any help will be appreciated! 😊
I couldn't sleep last night when I woke up because I can't stop thinking about it. My plan B is to apply to the hybrid track, even though right now it seems I won't get accepted to that either, assuming lots of people apply again. And I'm retaking the science classes, because those are the only 2 I got B's in. Also if I'm allowed I'll retake the TEAS. I also looked at all the nursing schools in the area but since most of them are bachelors programs, I'd have to take a few more classes in order to apply. It's tough because application dates are only a couple times a year. Just trying to stay positive.
I want to comment on the graph - we are all aware that they only accepted 24% but we'd like to know why? What made them cut off the cohort at 24% when there are plenty of people who also did well on pre reqs and TEAS, to me that isn't a good reason.
Their reasoning is always that it depends on how many clinical spaces are available. That is what depends on how many students they accept. Which still doesn't really make sense.
Then they shouldn't have lowered the teas score requirements. That's why so many people applied.
Exactly. They lowered it to get more candidates, and then they decide to lower the percentage of acceptances? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. As people have said earlier in this thread, they have been a disorganized mess for this year's program. I feel like they rushed the whole process.
They probably started to look for clinical sites at the last minute and that is why they didn't have enough spaces available for students. They also rushed the application process, because going from the domicile review stage one day and in 24 hours being at the acceptance/rejection stage ready to send out the emails makes no sense, as there were a lot of applications to go through. Not sure how many people are actually in the nursing division to review all applications, but still. They probably just quickly reviewed the applications and chose whatever 24% they wanted to and denied the rest. Very inconsiderate.
