NVCC applying for Fall of 2014. Class of 2016

Hey guys,

I started this thread in hopes of connecting with people who applied for the Traditional Nursing program at NVCC. I have been corresponding with them via e-mail and am anxiously awaiting an acceptance letter. Hope everyone else submitted their applications without issue! Maybe we can cheer each other on :)

I am with you there girl! There is SOOOO much needed to be done. Oh my gosh this is soo much! Prices are pretty expensive in total for everything not even including the liability insurance! I'm def. not looking forward to all those shots though. Ouch!

Yes! What has me a bit worried is that this would be my second physical in less than 1 year. I am not sure if my insurance will cover it or I may have to pay out of pocket!!!

I'm looking at Blackboard now and it is overwhelming! I was thinking the same thing about the physical cause I just had 1 in January. That To-Do List :eek: The amount of deadlines we have is just as long as the list haha.

Took me about 4 hours to go through it all and print! Wow!!!!

I wish they would post the book registration dates. Our family vacation is scheduled mid-august, the week between summer and fall semesters. We've been sitting on pins and needles for months waiting to find out if we have to cancel it for my school stuff, I just want to know :(

I just happen to have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow so I guess I will start that process right away.

Anyone else feeling knotted up in the stomach yet?

I am also worried about the book sign-in, in mid August. I am getting married in August and leaving for my honeymoon the week of the 11th. So I don't even know if I'll be able to even get a honeymoon without knowing the date of the book sign-in. I really hope everything works out. :(

I know I probably read the answer to this somewhere in the checklist but we don't register for classes until after the nursing orientation on July 22nd, correct? Or can we register before?

We register July 28. I went through the checklist and put every date in my calendar using the keyword nursing so I can search them all at once. There were so many dates, I know I'll miss one if I'm not on top of it.

Did anyone else start the process? I registered for CPR, 7-19 at MEC. Also I ordered the background check, the code they gave us placed me in the Fall 2013 cohort so after calling CP I sent an email to the school about it. I'm so nervous now about everything, I need to concentrate on midterms and finals!

I did the background check too and was placed in the Fall 2013 cohort. I thought it was a mistake at first. Yeah I have midterms this week for my other classes, so my head is spinning right now. I printed the stuff on blackboard, ordered the background check, and ordered . When I log in to certified background I see a to-do list with the drug test, then one bullet below I see the vaccinations and stuff we have to turn in. Is this the Student Immunization tracker? I'm so confused. My CPR expires at the end of September...I'm guessing I should go ahead and renew it just in case.

I called my own liability carrier for a quote and they weren't sure of exactly what the school was asking for so I'll look at where the school said to go.

Yeah that's the tracker but I see a page on the physical for it too, so I'm pretty sure we need to do it both places.

CPR has to be active the entire time we're in school so yeah, this is the time to renew.

I just completed all the certifications on the to-do list. The background check package is worth about $124 right?

Gosh so much money to spend! Driving me a little crazy! lol.

I too am registered for CPR at MEC for 7/19! I shall see you there! I haven't done the background check yet but am getting to it soon however I'm confused if it says Fall 2013 cohort will that be done by the July 22nd deadline? :nailbiting: this is all so stressful!

Anybody know how much the is? For those that have already ordered it? I'm about to start all this now and want to have a rough estimate about how much I'll be charging on my card >.

Nurse2be35: Yes the vaccinations is the student immunization tracker I believe however I'm not positive.

RNC510: Sorry to hear about the honeymoon congrats on the wedding though! However hopefully it won't be too late for you to decide because we get the dates for that book thing the day of the orientation.

@PreetM: Thank you! :) I just may have to hold off on my honeymoon for now. Gotta make some sacrifices. Regarding the , I just purchased it today and it cost me $108. Everyone is different though but hopefully that will give you an idea. I also have not purchased my background check yet cause I am waiting for my next paycheck. lol.

The scrubs, name tags and books can be purchased the day of July 22nd right? I have signed up for the library session on that same day. Has anybody else done so?

@rnc510 you're welcome! :) Oh awesome thank you! Is this a monthly charge or yearly? haha gotcha I'm about to do the background check thing now to get it over with. Yes I believe you can buy those the day of the 22nd. That's when I'm planning to as well however remember the nursing pack must be ordered by the 4th of august. I too signed up for the library orientation that day of the nursing orientation! :)

About the nursing kit though, anyone know if you can purchase the kit items separately? I actually own two stethoscopes and really don't want to purchase another one yet again...so anyone know if you can just buy the charting pen, penlight, and bandage scissors separately? I asked the nursing division just yesterday on campus and the lady at the desk had no idea... :/
