NVCC applying for Fall of 2014. Class of 2016

Hey guys,

I started this thread in hopes of connecting with people who applied for the Traditional Nursing program at NVCC. I have been corresponding with them via e-mail and am anxiously awaiting an acceptance letter. Hope everyone else submitted their applications without issue! Maybe we can cheer each other on :)

one more question! Anyone else add the student badge to their drug/background test order? Is it necessary?

I too am registered for CPR at MEC for 7/19! I shall see you there! I haven't done the background check yet but am getting to it soon however I'm confused if it says Fall 2013 cohort will that be done by the July 22nd deadline? this is all so stressful!

Anybody know how much the liability insurance is? For those that have already ordered it? I'm about to start all this now and want to have a rough estimate about how much I'll be charging on my card >.

My liability was $35 from the place they told us to go. I don't carry an LPN or CNA though so mine is strictly covering me as an unlicensed student with no scope of practice.

The scrubs, name tags and books can be purchased the day of July 22nd right? I have signed up for the library session on that same day. Has anybody else done so?

I think so, but at a cost of $20/nametag I'm definitely checking elsewhere before that!

About the nursing kit though, anyone know if you can purchase the kit items separately? I actually own two stethoscopes and really don't want to purchase another one yet again...so anyone know if you can just buy the charting pen, penlight, and bandage scissors separately? I asked the nursing division just yesterday on campus and the lady at the desk had no idea... :/

I swear the insurance was by the year, but I don't have anything in front of me to confirm that. The rates are consistent with yearly rates too (used to be an agent).

I hope we can buy the kit individually, I have that one and hate it, and I have a better one too so I wasn't planning downgrade.

I didn't, although I was tempted because I do volunteer a lot but I've never needed one before so decided I wasn't going to pay for it now.

Yay! Looks like some of us will be meeting prior to the orientation :) Oh okay I'm about to purchase the Liability Insurance right now! So far I've done the background check and the CPR class theres $240.75 gone >.<. maybe we already discussed this but everyone else background check says under their to list right the date is i kind of freaking out if messed up or not. and does it say how soon will get results for know they said email us a location where take drug test however confused about when come with results.>

I agree! $20 for one name tag is insane! Let us know if you find something cheaper please :) I'm sure all of us are willing to save as much money as we can especially since all this is so expensive to begin with!

Yeah I decided not to get it either. I doubt we will need it much again.

Okay, here's what I have so far on the problem with the background check cohort:

I emailed Velery Brown yesterday about the problem, explaining to her that the code placed me in the Fall 2013 cohort and that Certified Profile said they do not see any requests from the school in the past 11 months to make updates to the code. She emailed me back today saying the Clinical Coordinator was not having a problem with the code and did I know who I spoke to at CP? I emailed back that I didn't know who and explaining in greater detail the issue, adding that I had been told at least one other student had the same problem. The Clinical Coordinator emailed me at that point and asked me to call, I didn't see it until she had already left for the day though. I have a class until noon tomorrow so I will call her after class and hopefully this will get figured out.

@4thGenRN YOU'RE GOING THROUGH THE SAME PROBLEM AS WELL THEN?! Gosh I was terrified I did it wrong or something! Did you guys also realize that on blackboard under the forms tab they have directly under the background check form the one about the immunization tracker and it says in big bold print:"NVCC Traditional Nursing Track - Fall 2014 Entrance" for the class graduating in 2016.at I don't understand, is the immunization tracker a different website? I don't see anything on the background check thing having an option to select what is listed. All I see is under the to-do section there listing all the shots needed and an option to upload the documents. Anyone else see the option to select that? Unless I did it wrong

btw I think I will email Ms. Brown as well. That way there will be more than one person letting her know and hopefully she will realize the problem is with more than one person.

I also have the problem on the certified background page of it saying 2013. I don't remember an option to pick otherwise. I emailed a certified background support person about it but they haven't responded.

also anyone know what the graduation date is? I see on the Liability Insurance page it asks what your graduation date is and won't let you move on without it. I''ve put 5/2016 anyone know what the date is?

I just spoke to the clinical coordinator about the certified profile problem, she says now she knows exactly what the problem is, and we're all good since we're paid and they will get it fixed by the end of the day.
