NVCC applying for Fall of 2014. Class of 2016

Published

Hey guys,

I started this thread in hopes of connecting with people who applied for the Traditional Nursing program at NVCC. I have been corresponding with them via e-mail and am anxiously awaiting an acceptance letter. Hope everyone else submitted their applications without issue! Maybe we can cheer each other on :)

Hope to hear form you all with questions, concerns and comments!

The immunization records are kept in an online database where physicians can access them. They are usually printed out all together with dates and vaccines that were administered to each patient since you were young. What I wasn't sure about was if in the tracker we needed each individual vaccine to be submitted separately. But I guess you are right, I could submit the same immunization record as a whole into each section.

Whoa seriously?! You're a life saver lol because I was so worried since I lost my shot records when I moved and I called my hospital and they said they would charge me by the page if I wanted them...wayyy to much money and I don't want to spend anymore than I need to haha but I think that's all we have to do because I doubt they will give each individual separately.

That's only going to be true if you have access to the healthcare system that did your childhood vaccines. Say you grew up in NOVA and had INOVA do all your vaccines, they would have it. My vaccine records are gone with the wind having been vaccinated all over the US & world, I'll be having titers done and then only vaccinated for those I don't have immunity for.

Most(all?) of us will have to do that for chicken pox unless you prefer just to have the vaccine administered. The vaccine hasn't been in use in the US for 20 years so only the youngest of us would have had access to it as children and would have had the disease instead.

Do you guys understand how to submit the immunization records in the tracker? Are we suppose to ask our physicians to give us a record for each individual immunization and then scan them in individually to each section?? I'm so confused!

Your physician has to fill out the physical form and on that the vaccine page on the physical says you scan and submit that page and lab results for titers to certified background.

oh okay gotcha I've had them all done at INOVA actually so I guess I should be alright but I might just call in to make sure or just get titers done as you are and seeing what I need to get vaccinated as well then.

I've had the chicken pox vaccine done when I was a baby actually since I'm only 20 and before I lost my shot records I saw I actually got it.

Do you guys know what the Nursing Program Orientation Check-list is? Is it on blackboard and will we get that on July 22nd?

I kind of thought that it's probably the regular check-list they gave us to complete...but I'm not so sure. I swear all these announcements and stuff are so confusing. They need to be a bit more clear. Also anyone else get a welcome email from certified background this morning? I went to check my profile and only one vaccine changed to 2014 but everything else is still under 2013...strange.

I think it is the checklist we printed out on blackboard. I guess they just want us to check the boxes and upload it once we are finished with everything just to make sure we didn't miss anything.

I just checked my profile and everything still says 2013. I got an email yesterday after responding to the one we received asking to let them know if we were in the wrong class. The woman replied and said she would take care of it. Later today I will try to call the nursing department and ask if we should upload the same vaccination form (the one attached to the physical form) many times in a row. It doesn't make sense that the form is condensed, but on certified profile it is separated into each individual vaccination. I will let you guys know if I hear anything!

Ahh the woman just won't reply! I emailed her twice now and nothing so I emailed Ms. Brown and she forwarded the email to her and just added her within my convo and just asked if she could help me and I just saw one vaccine being updated to 2014. Yeah I agree it doesn't make sense to upload the same thing multiple times. But thanks in advance for contacting them. Hopefully they answer the question and get that cleared up. :)

Okay I spoke to someone in the nursing department and they told me to upload the vaccination form once. In the meantime they will work on getting that and the 2013 deadline fixed. Hope this helps!

Well, I don't know if anyone noticed, I saw it on accident. They posted an Important Deadlines sheet under the To Do checklists. Book orientation is both August 11 and 14, looks like both are mandatory because it's two separate publishers. I had a terrible feeling this was going to happen but I'm still so ******. I NEEDED that week desperately. I haven't had any time off in a year, I've worked so hard and my family has suffered so much that getting away for a few days before school started was a requirement. I honestly don't know if I can make it without it.
