I am starting a new thread to track cases from NVC - embassy to GC.
The best news for RN in China, Phillippines and India has been great and informative thread, but I think it is more appropriate and convenient if we start a new thread.
Also with the rapid scheduling of interviews for most of us, I am looking beyond the CP and anticipating the GC!
The August interview schedules are out already in India, and recently in the Philippines and hopefully in China.

My pd is nov 2005, current on friday. Need to know what kind of documents we need to send with the DS 230. And I read everywhere that we need a NBI. Is there anyone that could tell me what it is ? and where do we obtain it.

the nbi you are reading about is only valid for nurses from the philippines. it is ph's version of the us' fbi report.
for you, you need to get your local police clearance (for immigration purpose) or something similar to the us' fbi report if your country has one.
aside, from the police clearance you also need photocopy of the biographic pages of your passport, birth cert., marriage cert. (if applicable) and child's birt cert. (if with children), 2 pcs. 2x2 photos for each member in accordance with us visa specifications. pls. check out a link here (post #2212) that was posted regarding nvc's specification for the photos and there is also a link that was posted in this thread to know nvc's specific instructions for specific countries (if any).
hi bottomless appetite, i wonder if you have the same message in the NVC AVR,my pd is feb 2006. it says that missing docs and a letter was sent to lawyer last july 2007..do you think NVC sent a letter to the laywer this time?I have been hearing this recording since tuesday last week I think. If NVC sent a mail, it should have been with the lawyer already.anyone with same case?

i want to ask why nvc asked me for police clearance instead of an updated nbi clearance? last july of 2007, my hubby and i sent an updated nbi cert but now...nvc is asking for a police clearance. i cleared this one with the agency, they said it was indeed a police clearance that is missing from my checklist.

Usually, it is just the NBI clearance. The NBI clearance is already a nationwide name check covering the whole of the Philippines whereas a local police clearance in PH only covers the municipality or the City a resident lives in.
Do you have a history of living or have worked outside the Philippines for at least 6 mos. ? They request another police clearance coming from the country that someone has lived and/or worked for 6 mos. as well besides from the NBI clearance.
Also, I think it is a generic checklist and so when NVC says 'police clearance', they are generally referring to any local police clearance and on this case the NBI clearance from PH. I don't think they will specifically format a checklist specific for a country just to be accurate.
My updated docs was already with my lawyer. She's just waiting for the letter from the nvc.,Why is it taking too long?? I wonder.......:zzzzz

Hi neneng06. I received email from my lawyer today. They said they spoke with NVC regarding the letters but NVC said they are behind schedule and is still in the process of mailing thousands of letters. I guess there is nothing we can do but wait for our lawyers to receive the letter from NVC because they cannot send NVC our updated docs without the letter.

Hi bratinella RN. Did your lawyer already receive the official letter from NVC? or is it just your agency asking for the docs ahead? Because most of us here are still waiting for the official letter from NVC. My lawyer said that according to NVC they are behind schedule and is still in the process of mailing out the letters.

agp_ph is right. As long as it is not coming from NVC itself and just from the lawyer, then it is not official.

I guess most here are really waiting for the official letter from NVC.Uummm..Fruity may I ask how many days from the time NVCs AVR is telling that you have missing docs and a letter was sent to you lawyer, to the time your lawyer received the letter from NVC. My mistake on the "thank you".... (I always commit that mistake!). Anyway, to answer your question. NVC's message changed from "Lawyer will receive further intruction...." to " awaiting the biographic forms" on April 7.... Though personally, I don't think this could be baseline on dates when the requests was sent since I think Leis23 and Agp had this message ahead of me.... I was also wondering why most of you haven't receive the requests at this time. Though I have checked other sites where some already received the request but not sure if only from the agency or from the lawyer. I don't know if it helps that I don't have an agency, and my lawyer is doing things fast since I am paying him directly. Just an opinion.

thank you
