NVC -CP- GC Tracker

Published

I am starting a new thread to track cases from NVC - embassy to GC.

The best news for RN in China, Phillippines and India has been great and informative thread, but I think it is more appropriate and convenient if we start a new thread.

Also with the rapid scheduling of interviews for most of us, I am looking beyond the CP and anticipating the GC!

The August interview schedules are out already in India, and recently in the Philippines and hopefully in China.

Here is my case details

PD Dec 8, 2005

hi Leis23 and fruity, Let's keep our fingers crossed and pray that May VB will move forward another 6 months (Jan.1,2006) so our PDs will be current.

I've asked this question to an immigration lawyer. He said that if they sent you the old version of the DS-230 form and that is what you sent back and you updated all the supporting documents or they will not be expiring soon, he highly doubt that NVC will ask someone to fill-up the DS-230 form again for the reason that there is a new version of it indicating the new expiration date. He said that it is practically the same Form, nothing has changed aside from the new expiration date indicated on the right upper hand corner of the DS-230 Form. So, if the supporting documents are all updated and there is nothing to update on the Form itself, they will prob. not ask the applicant to fill-up a new DS-230 form again simply because there is a new version of it. So, unless NVC specifically asks for it, better not do so and just wait for the request if indeed they will ask.

I hope the lawyer is right and NVC will not ask for us to submit another DS230. I think most of us here submitted the DS230 with the July 2007 expiration last year and since the request last year for updated documents were received around June 2007, I think most of us also submitted NBI clearances that was issued June 2007 and therefore will be expiring June 2008.:yeah:

NBI clearances are good for two years. Double check on your copy to be sure. It is usually 2 years.

NVC were still giving out the old version of the DS-230 form (one with the 7/2007 exp. date) for the whole of 2007. I also monitored the State Dept's website and the one available for download for the whole 2007 was still that version as well.

Only noticed the new version, with the new exp. date on their website was made available for download only on Jan. 2008.

The immigration lawyer said that he really highly doubt it if the supporting documents will not be expiring soon that NVC will ask for you to fill-up the new version. Maybe if they will ask that you update some of your supporting documents that will be expiring they may request that one fill up the new DS-230 form along it but of only the DS-230 itself, maybe not.

Anyway, nothing for people to do than wait for any such request, if ever they come. Hopefully, not because it will just delay things.

My PD is current and my lawyer has asked for new Ds230 forms and they also want photos

Maybe it is because of the photos. Was this missing or just wanted a recent photo? Anyhow, it's logical to send in a new DS-230 form along with what is being requested anyway.

I figure this was not a formal request from NVC themselves but your lawyer being pro-active as your PD would not be current until April 1.

Congrats again, by the way.

my nbi clearance is good for one year only. it expires on june 21. i think they will ask for updated DS-230 forms again. :)

it's okay. just as long as our pds are current. i have nothing against sending a new one.

Thanks lawrence, yes my lawyer is being pro-active. It is a new requirement for NVC to have photos pre-interview.The Nvc hotline message now says awaiting bio graphical data so i am hoping we get an interview early summer.

Let me correct myself. The NBI clearance is just good for 1 year. If yours has expired then they will surely ask for a new one and to fill-in a new updated DS-230 form for good measures.

Was the DS-230 form they gave before still had the 7/2007 expiry on it?

Just out of curiosity, since you guys have 2005 PDs. Since when did NVC received your cases? How many times have they asked to update your files with them since then and on what dates?

Hi topscot :)

Is your case complete and at the London Embassy already?

hi guys.... my pd is sept 2005. just waiting for the interview when my pd's become current. my problem is about the ds230 form, i dont know if i will include my youngest child 7months in the updated ds230 form (if they will ask to resend it again) or ill just tell the the consul here in the Philippines that i have additonal petition and pay the aditional fee in manila embassy. im afraid to be hit by another retrogression if ill ask the nvc to generate additional visa fee bill. bec it would take another months to process the visa fee bill. thanks
