Is it me or does nursing school seem harder for guys than girls? Im a 21 year old guy and it seems like women are more motivated than guys. I say this because as a guy, it feels embarrassing to get a bad grade when the women around you do better. What do you guys think?

I am 22, male and in nursing school.
I agree that in general women have more motivation. Maybe it's harder for us because they are always whispering about their boyfriends and drama in class!

It's harder for anyone who isn't motivated to study, regardless of gender.

That may have sounded harsh. I stand by it, but still.
Seriously though, it's not "boy vs. girl" at this age. Leave that mindset behind.
Show yourself and everyone else just how motivated YOU are.

I don't see what gender ha to do with anything. It's YOU that is the problem. You can't loom around you and blame others for what YOU are doing wrong. Nursing school is hard for those who aren't motivated and those who don't try hard enough, regardless of gender. And it's incredibly cheavenist to be "embarrassed" when your grades are lower than a females grades. Are men supposed to be smarter ad ALWAYS do better than females? Are females not equal to men? Does it make you less of a man to not do as good as a female? If you answer yes to any of that, there is something wrong with you. Stop worrying about others, of either gender, and focus on your own work. The fact that you are comparing yourself to women is the problem. You are all students. That's it. In my class there are about 75 women and about 10 men. Some men are doing great. Some nt so much. Same with the females. And no, the women are nt complaining about their boyfriends and drama. They are takin notes and LEARNING. Like you should be trying to do.

I wasn't trying to say men are smarter than women. This is my first time being in a female dominated enviorment, that's all.

working in am all female environment can present it's challenges. Look at this as a learning tool for the rst of your life. You are in a unique situation to see the inner circle of women...use this knowledge to your advantage in your relationships and learn how women communicate differently. I don't think they study differently maybe harder and apply themselves more. Maybe you can learn from them as well.

I went to school after the initial phase of men entering nursing (then it was looked down upon, as 'doing a girl's job', ridiculed, mocked). In my time more men started in, and it became more of a novelty, and in my view male students were given some sort of a nuance of preferred treatement by instructors (all of whom were female). Nowadays that's no longer an issue. As far as nursing school goes, male or female (or one of the variations of either)- it's a tough row to hoe for anyone.
