Last night at work we were so busy that I had to wait 4 hours from the time I needed to empty my bladder to when I could actually have a moment to do it! Anyway, I was mentioned my prediciment one of the nurses and she jokingly said we nurses should insert a catheter with a leg bag before we come to work... just so we could survive these busy nights!
It got me thinking... what would YOU put in a nursing survival kit???
I thought of:
~my co-worker's suggestion of a foley complete with leg bag
~a year's worth of gift certificates for a housecleaning service
because I always feel too wiped out to tackle the house when
I get home
~a foot massager
Anyway, do you have any suggestions- realistic or funny? I'd love to read them!

I know that there is no such thing (yet), but an ignorant repellant would be nice:roll
Also a crystal ball, especially to survive in the ER:chuckle

A disquise so that you may go to the restroom or take a break and not have to get those angry "where are YOU going" looks by pts and family.
A number dispenser and sign saying "now serving pt number 109".
An anti new admit sign 1 hour before end of shift!
Decent coffee!!!
Another sign saying "one transaction per customer". LOL!

How about a caffeine/nicotine IV to go along with the catheter and leg bag,and I always wanted electronic rollerskates.Camoflage uniforms, and large paddle for Drs,who wait till end of shift to change orders.

Food spray like the chocolate spray from Weight Watchers.
A telepathic self-writing pen that would chart for you while you provide care (ie like the magic quill the reporter from Harry Potter had)
Portable compression leg sleeves with pumps for the nurse
Nursing stations with darkly tinted windows facing the hallway or one-way glass like in cop shows
Febreeze for those especially poopy nights
Depends to go with the leg bag
ABx tx to go along with the leg bag and periguard for the skin breakdown from the depends:wink2:

I'm just waiting for the Researchers out there to find a CURE FOR STUPID.
That'd do it

A person hired to come around and give chair massages, one per nurse per shift. (more, if they find more people to do this...)
Someone else to come around and massage my feet! Well, wait, that's assuming I'm OFF them long enough.
