Nursing Students' Summer Plans

Specializes in Med/ Surg and Orthopedics.

Hi Everyone! Another semester has come to an end :yeah:

So, what are your summer plans??

Taking summer classes :trout:

A much needed vacation :smokin:

Catchin up on the reading you did not do during the semester :nono:

I have one summer class to take (Bioethics), then I am off to Jamaica for 10 days before I come back to prepare for Nursing 2.

What are your plans???

My BSN program goes year round, so I'm taking my second semester of classes over the summer. It means I graduate in spring instead of December though, so I'm happy :).

IrishIzCPNP, MSN, RN, APRN, NP

Specializes in Pediatrics, High-Risk L&D, Antepartum, L.

I just started a summer semester that ends mid-July.

What I will be doing between then the end of August...

- possibly another sinus surgery (I really like to do things in 3s:uhoh3:)

- going to Disney World the week before school starts (last year we got stuck on the way home because of a blown out tire and an accident with fatalities that held up traffic for hours and caused me to miss my ATI class...that portion of it is something I won't be doing this summer)

- going down the shore (probably a term that doesn't make sense people not in this area)

- painting the house and trying to get it straightened up

That's about it...but I'm looking forward to all of it except the possible surgery.

I'll be working at my local hospital as a CNA. I want to get out into the ER eventually; right now I work mostly work pre and post surgery, and tele. It's good money, and I learn a lot of good practical information while I'm there, so sometimes I just think of it as training for when I become an RN.

When it gets closer to school starting back I'll probably start reading over my nursing fundamental notes because I start med/surg I next semester, and I want to be one step ahead of everyone else. I'm the only guy in my class, and I hated peds/maternal-newborn last semester... This next semester is my semester to shine, haha!! ;)

Are you in the NY/NJ area?

;) Yup. It seems only people in this area know what that means. I'm in PA and from Philly.

;) Yup. It seems only people in this area know what that means. I'm in PA and from Philly.

LOL that meaning is common to most people. I used to live in MD and we use to say that when we were talking about Ocean City which is on the Eastern Shore. Now I'm in NC and people say that for Wilmington, Myrtle Beach, etc.

I have a nursing class this summer, but I am so enjoying my 2 1/2 wk break in between semesters.

Thursday: Clinical 7-4

August 18th-September 3rd: Vacation, hopefully to Arizona and another camping trip. Then my last quarter starts on September 4th.

I applied for the summer externship program at a credited hospital in my area and just had interview last week. I won't know anything until end of next week. I really need this job. It would be a perfect summer if I just have this job, I don't know what else I'll be doing if I don't have this job. I was thinking of taking psych class over the summer since I have psych and peds next semester in RN program and I have heard it's really hard. OH gosh.....I am dying to know whether I got the job or not.
