Never assume that what you write first is your final submission. This is going to take some time and effort.
Brainstorm on a large piece of paper. Just start writing stuff down-- nouns, verbs, adjectives. Eventually you will find some coherent sentence fragments. let them make you think about how to use them.
Start writing at the end of your essay.
Then go back and lead your reader to the end.
Then put it away for two days, reread, revise. repeat.
Share it with someone who knows you well and ask for an unvarnished critical opinion. Show it to your old English teacher for grammar/usage/spelling errors.
If you are willing to put this much work into it at the beginning, you'll have a better product than most of the ones we see posted here. :)
I get writers block a lot. I found out that I write better when I stop trying to perfect it first and just write not caring about how it sounds yet but put it down. Then go over it to make those same ideas just written better. I received higher grades on papers when I did it that way instead of trying to make it perfect in my head first then put that down.
One teacher told me to read my papers out loud 10 times next time before I submit them too:yes:
Anyway I wrote very personal from the heart in my essay and tried to say how I have grown. I don't know if that's a good or bad idea.
In mine I told them if the didn't admit me they would continue to see my application each year until they did.
Hi! I'm working on my personal statement this year and I was so nervous about it. But then I found your post and it made me feel so much better, I don't know why. I don't know if I will be brave enough to actually write a thing like this but, anyway, thanks!
Also, maybe someone here can help with proofreading of my ps and give me a feedback? English isn't my native language and I'm nervous about making a bad impression. Alternative for me is paying a service like this and I don't want to do it. I'd give you million hugs if I could!

Hello All!
I am applying to NYIT's Nursing program (Spring 2016). I finished all the paperwork except probably the most important section. The personal statement/ essay on why I want to become an RN. I am having severe writer's block at the moment. I know the three reasons why I want to go to nursing school, but am having trouble writing about it on paper lol ... any suggestions or tips on how I should start...?
