EDIT: FYI- Not asking for advice..I'm just venting. Common sense replies are a waste of your time and mine. Feel free to skip to another thread if this one gets you bent out of shape.
Ok, if you are looking for positivity, close this thread quick!
Reasons why *I* feel nursing school can SOMETIMES be a drag:
1) Weight gain/loss that is unwelcome
2) Breaking out like you're going through puberty again
3) Lack of sleep (6 hours sounds good)
4) 200 hours of studying and only 2 days to complete it
5) You are inclined to feel clueless and severely inexperienced
6) Crappy Administration and/or Nursing Staff
7) Cheaters
8) Classroom Politics & B.S. "Cliques"
9) Cattiness
10) Backstabbing
11) Gossiping
12) Watching those who commit #7-11 succeed equally as well as you do. WHAT A KICKER!
Has anyone been in a nursing program that they hated so much they would given anything to transfer
on to another one? Just a random question.
I'm in my mid-20s and I cannot help but to notice how terrible the nursing school environment is. I have been in college before and it just doesn't compare to nursing school. I have never dealt with so many backstabbing, gossiping, cheating, ungrateful, catty people in my LIFE. And much to your surprise, they are NOT all women! I'm sick of my college. We pay over $23k per year and the administration treats us like dirt. There is NO loyalty when it comes to us and we are blatantly lied to almost on a daily basis...and even though I get along with my class as a whole, I would say it's more that I "tolerate" them because I'm slightly easygoing. I have never met so many two-faced, shameless, jealous, shady people in my LIFE before. It creeped up out of NO WHERE!
I'm sick of my nursing program. Sick of the people who are jealous of those who make good grades..and SICK of those same people who feel they have a right to copy off their papers or pressure them into "sharing". I go to college with , generally, a bunch of flippin' idiots. That felt better. Thanks for letting me vent. I'm just shaking my head thinking that I have to go here for another 1.5 years potentially. I'm doing everything I can to transfer, but I'm not sure how easy that will be. I'm finished with my LPN portion of my program this summer.
I just had to get this off my chest. You do not have to agree with me lol. I have already started to tell my classmates some of this. If they are gonna be hateful, they will be hateful knowing the truth from me! I don't have a problem either. Done a lot of that "blunt" talk this week. lol

Get used to all those things you listed. You will get that stuff in any profession. You just have to be better than to let it bother you.

This is life. No way around it. You will get all sorts of different annoying personalities be it nursing school or at work. Going to another school will not fix any of this.
What bothered me most about nursing school was the clinical STRESS. Can't stand it why the instructors went out of their to make it stressful for you. Looking back at it, I can sort of appreciate it. Made me stronger and forces to me to think quickly on my feet without folding.

What's your goal?
To finish school? Or worry about everyone else?
Focus.

Focus on school, your family, and your outside friends. Do what you need to do to succeed and get out. Then it doesn't matter.
Our nursing program was actually pretty good. We had a small class and we all got along for the most part. Yeah, there were people I didn't like, but because we were so small we had to work together. It certainly taught me how to work together even if you don't like someone.

The best thing about nursing school is that it ends. (And I made some great friends!)

I loved school, my instructors were really really TOUGH but very fair ex army nurses, the unit nurses were generous with their time and we were all too busy to have all the cattiness, politics and other stuff your talking about. I went to school at a time when cheating wouldn't have ever come up, no one would have ever considered it or risk getting caught, it was a different era though. I also think it helped that we were in a pretty rural environment too. We had no cells back then, when you were at work/school you were there 110%. We were at school and/or on the units at 6:30am and didn't leave until 5:00-5:30pm every day M-F and then there was studying.
I went to school at time when nursing was considered a "calling" not just a way to make money because nurses didn't make all that much back then.
When I read these threads about nursing school today, I'm so glad that I'm not having to face all of it. Like other say, focus on your goals and ignore the rest.
Good Luck

I hope you feel better after the vent. This place is a great sounding board. Keep up the good work!
YES!!!! LOL. I like that. Friends though? Nah..not happening for me. There is one lady I really like in my program..but we lead different lives and she is about 20 years older than me. :)

What I would GIVE to be there! Not because I feel it's "easy". I don't expect or want nursing school to be easy...I'm just in utter shock that the stress I deal with is such fickle B.S. It's totally corrupt and sickening. I don't "tell on" anyone and don't really get at people unless they keep trying to mooch off me..but I just had to vent! My program is a JOKE. I rather be in a program that is ORGANIZED, but TOUGH, and earn a solid 3.0 GPA than earn the 3.8 I have here. It sounds silly that I would take a cut in grades..but truly..I rather bust my butt to earn a C+ and really LEARN than feel like I'm bs-ing this B.S. program and making As and Bs.

I agree with number 1-5 on your list, but I wouldn't care too much about your peers and instructors. It's best to just to concentrate on what you need to do to get your RN license. I don't think nursing school is that bad if you are able to stay focused in your own work and not think too much about how other people are doing in your class.
I totally wish that was possible. I'm not sure where to start. These people have quite the mentality and not a lot of shame when it comes to cheating, mooching, and starting drama. My school is in The Bronx and I swear to G they make them different here. It's pathetic to see how much this entire class talks behind their friends back (I've heard EVERY SINGLE one of them)...not that I care..but I hate having to constantly fight to make sure I'm not caught up in the mix. In our classes you have to interact a lot..no way around it...it would be so nice to not have to deal with people lol. Thanks so much for your reply :)
