Hey all! I am starting my nursing program in January and need to look into some scholarships. Any ideas where to start? I keep running into junk websites that end up being all spam.
I'll take any tips!!

FAFSA, Fastweb, HRSA Nursing scholarship is a really good one if you get it since it pays for 100% of tuition, books, and supplies and even gives you a monthly living stipend.

Look at your schools financial aid web page, ours has a huge list of pertinent ones for us.
The school is not very helpfull with the scholarship search. Thanks for the tips!
So I figured I would update you all. I did some research and found some at my local hospital. Also, I called my local workforce solutions. You have to qualify (which I do) you can get $7500 toward your RN!!!

Hey AngeWeise,
Workforce solutions in Alabama is a program that provides assistance with career training for people who are unemployed or qualified otherwise. I don't know about other states, but here in Alabama if you have a B.S. degree, even if you qualify otherwise, you cannot participate in the program. The program is AWESOME, here it pays for books, fees, tuition, supplies AND if you receive a Pell Grant or other loans you can put that money in your pocket. Check with your local unemployment office or job office for more info, that's usually who administers the program. I found out about it by accident when I sat in on one of their meetings. Since I have a BS that is truly some BS, I don't qualify....any other scholarship information someone could provide would be helpful!!
Good Luck

Don't forget to look into your own nursing program for scholarships. There is sometimes money right under your nose.

I work at a local hospital and they will reimburse me up to $4000 a year for classes that will help further my career there. If you work somewhere, you may want to look into it.

NEW INFO:
Turns out the person in my school's WIA office who gave me this information was NOT the authorized person to give that information out and (according to the only STATE employee in that office and the WIA office) you can still qualify for this program if you have a BS degree. It simply depends on what you are returning to school for. In my case going from a BS in Biology to an RN license is considered an upgrade (HA-TOTALLY NOT SURPRISED ABOUT THAT ONE). So, moral of the story is.....don't give up.....keep asking, keep asking , keep asking.
