Nursing Salary Hall of Shame

Lets look at this salary situation another way, by taking a poll of who is working for the least amount of money, or has been offered the least in recent history. For example, in January, 2003, as an RN,BSN, I was offered $15.35 per hour base at a "large local facility."

Who can beat that for a sucky offer?

what a shame for us !! i guess when nurse's stop caring there will be change !! i don't see that happening too soon from some of the sorry saps of nurse's that have replied " i am in nursing to help " statement i have gotten .

they pay big bucks to people who sit and tell other people what to do in businesses, etc. but pay someone who has your life in their hands almost nothing....not a direct quote...but something like that. ha. he is a smart guy.

when i was a young 'un, i drove a school bus for a while. i was fascinated that the guys who hauled produce made 3x as much money as i did transporting "yuppy larvae." (terminology courtesy of dan ackroyd)

You mean the food and utilities are higher or the same in FL? I know the pay is less. Is it is like $15-18/hr? I have some family in NC and they make 20-something an hr. Good luck in FL!

That is right the food and utlities are just the same . My parents are living there for 6 years now so that is why I am going there but I have been monitoring those items and guess what BIG LIE Florida is not cheaper .

and i thought when men got into the profession we would make the wages men demanded . i would never want to make the wages you do . i don't think this forum is a jerry spinger show but i do understand why some people think florida folks can be very backward . this can account for the fair to poor medical care florida still has in the state . nurse's who can make really good money tend to go to those facilities . i am not stating that nurse's are only into the position for $$$ but i need to make a desent living .

i think a great many of us are in it because we want to help people and also like the work, but we are under tons of stress in most nursing jobs and have a lot of responsibility. i think the average pay (even considering the cost of living) is not equal to the workload and stress. heck, the one time i had to go to court was so stressful that i should have gotten $50,000 or more for that one day! argh. :rolleyes:

You know if you keep insulting Florida people and being incredibly rude like that in thread after thread, you can pretty count on not getting a decent job there. It makes me wonder why you are moving there.
