and i thought when men got into the profession we would make the wages men demanded . i would never want to make the wages you do . i don't think this forum is a jerry spinger show but i do understand why some people think florida folks can be very backward . this can account for the fair to poor medical care florida still has in the state . nurse's who can make really good money tend to go to those facilities . i am not stating that nurse's are only into the position for $$$ but i need to make a desent living . be grateful if you want to be a sorry sap !! :chuckle

That is right the food and utlities are just the same . My parents are living there for 6 years now so that is why I am going there but I have been monitoring those items and guess what BIG LIE Florida is not cheaper .

What a shame for us !! I guess when nurse's stop caring there will be CHANGE !! I don't see that happening too soon from some of the sorry saps of nurse's that have replied " I am in nursing to help " statement I have gotten . Take care !

do you think all the responds for low wage in nursing can be sent to Jeb Bush and the florida board of nurisng , It is a election year !!! George was just in florida he needs the state I say lets get old geoge to looka the salaies of nursing in Florida and push old brother Jeb in a better direction to help us out !!:rotfl:

I have to agree we all need to support our self in this world that is not why I choose nursing 27 years ago but I belive as nurse's who are demand now we need to ask , no DEMAND better wages and since there is a shortage we should get the $$$. I am not in debt and have a nice lifestyle , I work hard but expect payment for that experience . Nurse's are needed . I will always have a job but I will work hard for $$$ not so hard for less . The public must begin to understand who is keeping them comforable in the hospitals or Nursing homes who is really caring for them . I think alot of the country has caught on to the idea that nurse's no longer work for pennies . I am sure if you want to work for low wages or:angryfire lower wages you can get that job . But as for me I will wait out the higher paying postions or do travel nursing people are people I don't care who I nurse but how much it pays !!

Better yet I got my legal nurse cert maybe I can make a ton of $$ from nurse's like you !!:rotfl:

I am with you I too would like the 12 hour days but in Citrus county can't find those shifts anyone live in that county that can help me ???

If you want to work for low wages you should !! I do not wish to work for 17.00 per hour I make $64,000 now why in God's name would I want to work for less . Maybe your cost of living is low because you don't expect too much from yourself I on the other hand think If you want and need my expertise than pay for it . I am a nurse not a nun I want to be paid for my responsibilities . I don't know how much experience you have as a nurse on the unit or if you have any MANAGEMENT experience but I can tell you nurse's who feel they can get by with less get nothing . I intend to lobby for better wages in Florida and I do hope people like you do not think nurse's won't strike or slow work down because I will without a doubt and nurse's like you can pick up the slack since you love the job !!

It is unforuate that nurse's have been taught to be kind ect..... but any CEO, stock trader , trashman , plumber ect... would be paid more than us . We are caring for people and lives depend on our education . If you feel you are just a lil LPN get out of nursing you don't have the balls for this life !! We need nurse's that fight for the lives of patient's and $$$$$ and respect . Please don't let the nurse's in Florida be mambie pambies's . Get other opinion Live better don't you have a life ???

I am moving to Homoassa , Fl this month. Are there any agencies there??? I tried aleast 6 NH in the area and I cannot get hired . I have 27 yrs and am currently a director of Clinical records and utilization review PPS , CMI my specialty .I also have a degee in paralegal am I too qualified for the area ??? HELP !!!! the wages are a big problem in Florida something I did not count on and I just don't know how I am going to afford it .
